Rolles, Muriel

Muriel Rolles was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dertell of the Star City area. Muriel persued a carear as a school teacher. In 1936 she married Arthur Rolles and moved to his farm which was located near Star City. In the winter the couple would live in the town of Star City and in the summer months move back out to their farm, until in 1969 they sold the farm. They had one son Dale Rolles.

Flett, Kathleen

Kathleen Flett, one of six children, was born to Robert ("Bob") Flett and Mildred Flett (nee Hill). Kathleen currently lives and works in Melfort, Saskatchewan. Her father, Bob, was the son of Dave Flett and Mary Flett (nee McClure). Bob's father and grandparents, John Flett and Janet Flett (nee Bannerman) homesteaded in the area near Ethelton, Saskatchewan, that would come to be known as Flett's Springs.

Vera R. Currie (nee Baity) is the daughter of Lyla R. Baity (nee Wilkinson). Vera's mother was born in 1912 on the Beatrice (nee Barnum) and Jack Wilkinson homestead near Tisdale, Saskatchewan. This farm was sold following the First World War, and the Wilkinsons moved to Quesnel, British Columbia, where Lyla remained. Vera Currie was born in Quesnel, and attended school there, but moved to Salt Lake City, USA, after marriage.

Marshall Edward Cottrill was born in 1904 to Edward Andrew Cottrill and Kate Christina Cottrill (nee Kyler) in the Star City, Saskatchewan municipality. He eventually married Bernice Cottrill (nee Ford) and had two daughters and one adopted son. Over his life, he worked as a teacher and farmer.

James "Chat" Chatterton Clark was born in 1910 to James Byron Clark and Anna Mary Clark (Chatterton). In Melfort, in 1937, he married Edna Mae Wood. James farmed and worked as an accountant. As well, he contributed greatly to the Naisberry area. James was secretary for both the Naisberry S.D. #788 and the Naisberry Wheat Pool Committee from the 1940's into the early 1960's.

Carlson, Albert

Albert Edward Carlson was born December 18, 1929 to John Edward Carlson and Helen ("Nellie") Elizabeth Carlson (nee Deighton) on the SE 1/4 of 30-45-20. He received his education at Kirkton School. When he was young, Albert would help his father at the farm until winter, at which point he would work elsewhere. At age 16, he went to La Pas Lumber Camp at Carrot River, Saskatchewan with John Ericson and Ernest Hendrickson. Another winter, he drove caterpillar at Meyers Camp in the bush. In 1952, Albert worked on the Lynne Lake railroad at Sheridon, Manitoba. Albert took over the family farm after the death of his father in 1953. In 1957, he married Audrey Carlson (nee Johnson) at the Zion Lutheran Church in Kinistino, Saskatchewan. They had five children.

Campbell, Velma

Velma Campbell was born in 1924 on her family's farm in Ethelton, Saskatchewan. Her parents were Dennis Roy Groat and Majorie Groat (Olsen). Velma married William C. Campbell and together they had one daughter, Darlene Mae. Velma worked as a stenographer at Groat's Garage. She also enjoyed writing poetry and dramatic works. Her play "Oh, Those Golden Years" was performed by the Lacenda Club. Velma's husband William was a pilot in the Canadian Military. From 1941-1945 he was stationed in England as a rear air gun runner. William was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Fred Brown's parents were Luther "Buster" Brown and Lilas Brown (nee Rigg). Fred attended Pierceville S.D. #1671 from 1941 to 1951, Willowdale S.D. #1887 from 1951 to 1953, and lastly, Burke School from 1953 onward.

Bohn, Florence

Florence "Jamie" Bohn was born April 26, 1908 in Point Douglas, Minnesota to Amasa James and Katherine James (nee Whotley [sic]). Florence moved with her parents in 1910 to a homestead in the Brock, Saskatchewan district. She took her initial schooling in Brock, and later attended Normal School in Saskatoon. In January of 1935, Florence married Walter Valentine Bohn who, during his lifetime, worked at lumber camps, hauled equipment, built railway lines, and provided maintenance for Highway 3. The two had three children: Myrna, Fern, and Murray. Frances' career as a teacher took her to a variety of schools. She taught at Mervin and Atwater before her position at Beatty, Saskatchewan, and later taught at Fairy Glen School between 1962 - 1965. this period was followed by a five year position at Pleasantdale, Saskatchewan. Frances retired in 1970 after 31 years of teaching. She regularly took part in Superannuated Teachers conventions, and was active in the Wapiti Regional Library, the Melfort United Church, and the Beatty Half-Century Club.
