Doris Hasell fonds

This fonds consists primarily of materials relating to Dr. Hasell's research, writing, and teaching. It includes Dr. Gordon Snelgrove's teaching copy of "Art Through the Ages," Ukrainian embroidery samples originally collected by the Saskatoon Arts and Crafts Society, research papers, and 1,012 slides relating to art history and furniture design.

Fonds consists of the personal and professional papers of art educator, Dr. Les Groome. Arranged in seven series (Art; Education (self); Magazines and Catalogues; Professional Associations; Research; Speaking and Writing; Teaching), the records include exhibition programs, class handouts, papers, publications, association files, conference materials, correspondence, speeches, articles, clippings, and other materials pertaining to Dr. Groome's professional associations and teaching and research functions as a Professor of Art Education at the University of Regina and its predecessor institutions. Also included are report cards, graduation and banquet programs, student teaching bulletins, and a workshop outline relating to Dr. Goome's teaching activities at the Saskatchewan Teachers College (1951-1963), and notes, papers, reports, and lessons pertaining to his own training.

Gordon Snelgrove fonds

Incomplete collection of 35mm slides used by Gordon Snelgrove in his teaching. These slides were in circulation until 2010. The paper mounted slides include handwritten notes in blue and red pen by Gordon Snelgrove.
Snelgrove’s previously used glass lantern slides were discarded when the Department of Art and Art History moved from the Hangar Building to the Murray Building. Many of the 35mm slides have also been discarded or re-mounted in plastic as the original cardboard mountings were damaged with time.
Also included is a copy of a book annotated by Snelgrove entitled.

Margaret Messer fonds

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers created by Margaret Messer. Arranged in six series (Education, General, Teaching, Organizations, Publications, and Scrapbooks) the records document her activities as a teacher, art educator, writer, and illustrator, as well as her own education and training and her involvement with several professional groups. A large part of the collection contains information on art education programs at Balfour Technical School (1945-1974) and at the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus (ca. 1966-1984) where she was a significant influence on program development. Of particular note is the series of publications which includes articles and books written or illustrated by Messer (1946-1973). Publications of the Saskatchewan Society for Education through Art (SSEA) are found in the Organizations series, along with papers, correspondence, conference materials, minutes, newsletters, and other records pertaining to her involvement with the SSEA (1961-1985), the Canadian Society for Education through Art (1962-1984), the Saskatchewan Arts Board (1947-1970), and others. General Files (1927-1986), containing biographical information, art commissions, personal and professional correspondence, curriculum materials, travel logs, drawings by Messer, and memorabilia, provide additional insight into her life and career.

This collection contains catalogues, publications, passports, certificates, correspondence, minutes and other formal documents from arts organizations, photographs, slides, negatives, video tapes, eight-millimetre film, architectural drawings, sketchbooks, media clippings, and one ceramic art work presented to Jack Sures from his students. His art works, exhibitions, travels, commissions, teaching career and personal contacts are well documented through this expanse of material.

This collection consists of exhibition catalogues, posters, invitations and promotional ephemera, primarily (but not exclusively) from Canadian art galleries. The catalogues predominantly feature the work of Canadian artists, with some European and American artists (and minimal representation from Asian artists). The collection provides interesting documentation of the development of Canadian art across the country, including regional focus and to some extent, the development of interest in Indigenous art. In addition, the collection includes some auction catalogues, as well as items relating to advertising; art and design used in industry promotion; and industrial design.
