Documents in the fonds relate to the National Research Council - International Biological Program Natural Area Survey - Conservation Terrestrial Saskatchewan Region. Most regions of Canada had an IBP Committee working toward the establishment of a Natural Area system. The Sask. provincial program started in 1968. Fieldwork began in 1969 with 95 areas were selected for the inventory.

The fonds includes film footage and audio recordings created during Christopher Chapman’s film project relating to Richard St. Barbe Baker; photographs of the film shoot in British Columbia; correspondence, drafts, proposals, notes, etc. documenting the film project, including correspondence between Chapman and St. Barbe and between Chapman and others; photographs taken and collected by St. Barbe; letters sent to St. Barbe care of Chapman during his extended visit to Canada; articles and other resource material compiled by both Chapman and St. Barbe, especially relating to forestry and the environment, and about St. Barbe; and related material including slides of the Findhorn Community in Scotland.

McConnell Family fonds

: This fonds contains the personal records of an extended family, including photographs, correspondence, and diaries. It documents their interests, careers, and family life predominantly two generations – the Ratcliffes and McConnells. The first accrual documents the interests, careers and family of John and Doreen McConnell and their daughter, Mary Ann. It includes materials related to McConnell’s work in communications, his work for the Canadian and Saskatchewan governments, together with materials relating to his interest in the environment and social and international development issues. It also includes materials relating to his wife, Doreen, who predeceased him. The second accrual adds the records of Doreen’s parents, the Ratcliffes, which includes documents related to their personal life and interests, Elma’s travel, James’ World War I service, and family life.

Phillips Family fonds

This fonds relates to the lives of siblings or descendants of RHD Phillips and Tanyss (Bell) Phillips. Robert Howard Daniel (“Bob”) Phillips (1921-2006) was a journalist. He joined the staff of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as a research analyst, and later became the editor and publisher of the Western Producer. He married Tanyss Bell in 1951. Tanyss (1926-2016) was an economist who worked in the research department of the Bank of Canada, with the Saskatchewan Royal Commission on Agriculture and Rural Life, as a lecturer at the University of Regina, and as a contract editor. Both were alumni of the University of Saskatchewan.

This fonds contains personal files, correspondence, research materials, publications, meeting files, administrative records, association files and photographs relating to C.S. Houston's teaching, research and scholarly pursuits. The extensive research files primarily relate to: congenital dislocation of the hip in native people; anti-smoking activities; and the history of radiology in Saskatchewan and Canada. Drafts, files and correspondence document the preparation of publications on the Franklin Expeditions, T.A. Patrick, and R.G. Ferguson. Administrative records relate to Dr. Houston's position as Head of Medical Imaging.

Richard St. Barbe Baker fonds

This fonds contains files relating to St. Barbe's family, as well as his personal correspondence, autobiographical material, his forestry and conservation activities (including Men of the Trees and the Sahara Reclamation Program), and his involvement with the Baha'i faith. While the collection as a whole covers the full span of St. Barbe’s life, 1889-1982, the bulk of the material dates from post-World War II, much of the earlier material apparently having been lost to German bombs in England during the war.

Department of Plant Ecology fonds

Fonds includes records relating to the Department of Plant Ecology's administration, teaching and research; extension work relating to the Saskatchewan Weed Survey; and correspondence with a variety of institutions and individuals. A series of minutes and correspondence relating to the Saskatchewan Committee on the Ecology and Preservation of Grasslands (established in 1935) documents the efforts to establish permanent reserves of significant grasslands in Saskatchewan. Records of the department and personal records of R.T. Coupland have often been intermingled; in particular, this fonds includes records relating to Coupland's research and other activities.

D.S. Rawson fonds

This fonds consists of notes, record books, and reports concerning Rawson's limnological research: particularly his studies done in Prince Albert National Park (1928-1934); the national parks areas of the Rocky Mountains (1935-1941); Riding Mountain National Park; Reindeer, Athabasca, and Great Slave Lake; and Lac La Ronge, Amisk Lake, and the Churchill drainage system (1942 onward). Additionally, there is considerable correspondence with a number of Rawson's colleagues and with various national organizations. The fonds also includes speeches, maps, and lecture notes. There are also photograph albums which contain family images, images of research trips, and of various flora and fauna.

Aninda Chakravarti fonds

This fonds contains reference material, correspondence, reports, manuscripts, maps and research data relating to Dr. Chakravarti's research, teaching, and administrative career. Included are correspondence relating to, and manuscripts of, many of Chakravarti's published articles. Dr. Chakravarti has published widely in the following fields: synoptic climatology; precipitation patterns, drought and dust storms on the Canadian prairies; and agricultural and foods problems in India. The administrative series contains material relating to the restructuring of the Geography graduate program in the 1980s and to the appointments made in the department. The teaching series includes lecture notes, exams and assignments, and student evaluations.
