Administrative history

Hurricane Hills Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, as part of Qu'Appelle Presbytery and primarily consisting of the Hurricane Hills preaching place. In 1984, it joined the new Plains Presbytery, which became part of the All Native Circle Conference when it was formed, in 1989.

Custodial history

Original provenance for many of the records in the fonds is unclear. Initial items were transferred to the archives between 1925 and 1986.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of textual materials generated by Hurricane Hills Pastoral Charge and constituent churches.

Contents include: a Home Mission Record Book (1955-1961), containing baptism and burial records; reports (1915-1923) by H. McKay, George McArthur, and Peter Strang; and reports and diary fragments (1897-1903) by Rev. E. McKenzie. Broadview and Hurricane Hills are among the congregations and communities identified.
