Claude Breeze fonds

Fonds consist of personal papers documenting the artistic and teaching career of Claude Breeze. The records are arranged in nine series: Art Works, Drawings, Sketches and Sketchbooks; Calendars and Diaries; Correspondence; Personal Financial Records; General Files; Newspaper Clippings; Photographs; Publications; and Scrapbooks. These papers, and in particular the wealth of sketches, drawings, and photographs included in the fonds, trace in detail the development of Breeze's art from his first works produced in the early 1950's to 1969 and beyond. A rich collection of correspondence, photographs, publications, and publicity materials reveals a generation of Canadian artists, poets, and writers who were strongly influenced by the 1960s. Also included is correspondence with Canadian public and commercial art galleries and with Breeze's patrons, Dr. Ken and Joyce Morton of Vancouver.

The records are arranged in three series: Correspondence with cultural organizations, government agencies, media, friends, writers, and others (1981-1987); Publications by Sharon Butala (1985); and Writings and Drafts (1982-1987). The latter contains various drafts and manuscripts of a number of unpublished and published works including 'Sweet Time' (Herren, 1985), 'Country of the Heart' (Fifth House, 1984), 'Luna' (Harper Collins, 1988), and 'From the Heart'.

Vic Cicansky fonds

Fonds consists of papers, slides, and sculptural maquettes covering a number of commissions and art pieces which Vic Cicansky completed over a twenty year period, from 1969 to 1989. They include maquettes and sketches for "The Old Working Class," and the "New Working Class" commissions, as well as several smaller pieces. The wall sculpture entitled "The Garden Fence," now in the Canadian Broadcasting Building in Regina, is also featured in this collection. Slides take the researcher through the step-by-step processes employed by the artist in creating his sculptures. There is a working sketch, a sample title, a miniature wall, the photographs of the final sculpture as evidence of these processes. This fonds includes the papers of fellow artist, David Zack.

Lorna Crozier fonds

Fonds consists of personal papers throughly documenting the private life and literary career of Canadian poet & writer, Lorna Crozier. While the arrangement of series varies somewhat among the accessions, as a whole the fonds contain the following series: Correspondence (personal and professional); Writings/Drafts (by Crozier & other writers); Professional Activites; Publications (buy and about Crozier and other authors); Personal files; Employment and Education files; Photographs; Posters; and Audio Visual Tapes. Beginning with her early student works a substantial portion of the papers is made up of drafts, revisions, gallery proofs, manuscripts, reviews, and published versions of poems, plays, short stories, and reviews written by Crozier, providing a detailed reflection of her development as a writer. Also noteworthy is the extensive personal and professional correspondence with family, friends, publishers and colleagues including such important Canadian writers as Susan Musgrave, John Newlove, Anne Szumigalski, Eli Mandel, and her husband Patrick Lane, as well as many others. Crozier's varied activities as an editor, teacher, speaker, interviewer, jurist, speech writer, and student are well represented in the papers, as are her associations with numerous literary and cultural organizations. The audio visual materials provide aural and visual glimpses into her life and work, and include audiotapes of interviews with various artists conducted by Crozier and of her and Lane's appearances on CBC Radio.

Ray F.E. Harvey fonds

Fonds consists primarily of records generated by two committees: the Saskatchewan Department of Education's Committee of Inquiry on Teacher Salary Negotiation Procedures, 1966-67, and the University of Saskatchewan's Joint Committee on Higher Education, 1965-68. Dr. Harvey was a member of the Joint Committee on Higher Education and was chairman of the Regina Campus Sub-Committee. The major purposes of the Joint Committee were: to examine all aspects of post-secondary education; to examine the feasibility of establishing several colleges in defined regions of the province to further the economic and cultural development of the region; and to examine and evaluate the articulation of all formal and informal educational programs in a community.

Of particular interest is a series of portraits, game action shots, and group shots of Cougar hockey teams, 1974-1984, as well as hockey career scoring statistics, 1976-1984. The fonds also contains a small series of files pertaining to sport and athletic organizations with which Reg Higgs was associated.

The bulk of the collection consists of original drawings, sketches and sketchbooks, designs, and watercolors, as well as slides and photographs of his art works. Also included are correspondence, catalogues, and other records relating to the sale and exhibition of his work, along with correspondence with art galleries, art schools, arts organizations, professional associations, and employers. Publications featuring Arthur Horsfall and other artists are also present.
