M.J. Guilford Historic Costume Collection fonds

This fonds contains a binder of articles and photographs documenting costume design, and part of the material appears to have been catalogued as part of the College of Home Economics Guilford Costume Collection. There are also numerous, uncatalogued photographs (sepia and black and white), primarily of individuals and presumably collected to document costume and fashion. There are also a small number of photographs of Pense, Regina, and Regina Beach, Saskatchewan.

This substantive family archive of Canadiana consists of multi-page correspondence for southern and south-central Ontario beginning in 1875 through 1929, but mostly pre-20th century, and comprises of several different threads of personal/familial writings with letters received between Saskatoon Saskatchewan, and many other locations across Canada. Along with the over 85 letters are some loose covers, an account book, one check book with stubs and perhaps another 20 pieces of ephemera.

This fonds contains a variety of collections gathered together by Neil during his lifetime. The main areas of interest are LGBT, cross dressing, wrestling, and (to a minor extent) running. Periodicals, postcards, posters, artwork, textual material, and audiovisual material are found throughout the fonds. This fonds contains files relating to St. Barbe's family, as well as his personal correspondence, autobiographical material, his forestry and conservation activities (including Men of the Trees and the Sahara Reclamation Program), and his involvement with the Baha'i faith. While the collection as a whole covers the full span of St. Barbe’s life, 1889-1982, the bulk of the material dates from post-World War II, much of the earlier material apparently having been lost to German bombs in England during the war.

McKay family fonds

The McKay family fonds contains material created and assembled primarily by Angus McKay and his daughter Annie Maude (Nan) Nan McKay. The photographs include family members as well as HBC staff; the University of Saskatchewan campus during Nan McKay’s time as a student; and a variety of scenes and people in Northern Saskatchewan, documenting Angus McKay’s work and family life at various posting, and including a photo identified as a treaty party in La Ronge. The textual material accumulated by Angus McKay includes business, family and personal correspondence, including correspondence relating to his award of scrip, receipts, financial accounts, price lists, tax assessments, etc. There is also material relating to the McKay family tree; printed reminiscences (1935) of the Riel Rebellion of 1885; notes and sketches for a talk by Nan McKay about bird watching.

This collection contains material obtained by the Committee on Historical Records, established at the University in the early 1940's to obtain historical documents and reminiscences from individuals throughout the province. Although many responses are brief and contain only suggested names of people to be contacted, some replies provide detailed accounts of early settlement and community development. The fonds also contains brief family histories from a class in 1943.
