The Kitikmeot Atlas project was initiated to produce an interactive electornic map of the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut using traditional Inuinnaqtun and Inuktitut place names. Oral history interviews were conducted with Kitikmeot elders. The place names and any associated meaning or traditional knolwdge was recorded and incorporated into the interactive atlas and into paper maps of Kiilliningujaq, Ikaaqturijjat, and Iqaluktuuttiaq.

Fonds documents the creation of the Kitikmeot Atlas. Fonds consists of audio-visual recordings of interviews with Inuit elders at Kugaaruk and Cambridge Bay, proposed and final versions of the interactive digital map program, and paper versions of the maps. Fonds also includes administrative records.
