The installation of the first generator and engine at the Broad Street Power Plant. The four men in fur coats to the left are Mayor HW Laird, Alderman James Balfour, Alderman Peter Cooper, and Alderman Peter McAra. To the right of the generator stator is Mr. J.A. Johnson (with white collar), first Superintendent of Regina Light & Power Department. Man with head and shoulders only showing above the generator is HB Russell, chief engineer. James McKechnie, city wiring inspector, is to Johnson's left. Man in fur coat to the right of Johnson is Hugh Ryan, Line Foreman. All others are unidentified.

Mr. Gerald Spring-Rice, the owner of Regina's first power plant, which operated under his ownership from 1892 until 1902 when he sold it to the city.
