Name of creator

(1925–ca.1932, ca.1936–2012)

Administrative history

Regina Rosemont Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, from what had previously been a Methodist field. Around 1932, Rosemont United was listed as part of Regina Chalmers Pastoral Charge (with St. James and Chalmers United) but it was re-established as a separate charge by 1936, containing Rosemont, Estlin, St. James and Wascana United Churches. Other points were moved around the 1940s and Rosemont formed a joint-charge with Wascana, ca.1951 until about 1953, when they returned to separate charges. On September 30, 2012, Rosemont Pastoral Charge closed.

Name of creator

(ca.1932, 195?–1996)

Administrative history

Regina Wascana Pastoral Charge was formed around 1932 (listed as vacant) but by 1936, the church was part of Regina Rosemont Pastoral Charge. Regina Wascana Pastoral Charge appears to have been re-formed as a joint charge with Rosemont, ca.1951, then as a separate charge, by 1953. Around 1970, preaching points were listed as Grand Coulee and Sherwood. Grand Coulee moved back into its own Pastoral Charge around 1973 but Sherwood remained until it closed, June 30, 1990. Wascana Pastoral Charge itself closed on September 30, 1996.

Custodial history

Original provenance for many of the records in the fonds is unclear. Initial items were transferred to the archives between 1925 and 1986. Further additions were received by Saskatchewan Conference from around 1992 to 2016.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of textual materials generated by the related Regina Rosemont Pastoral Charge, Regina Wascana Pastoral Charge, Regina Rosemont-Wascana Pastoral Charge, as well as their predecessors and constituent churches – boards, committees and related bodies, local women’s units and other groups.

Contents include: minutes of church boards, sessions, stewards, and congregational meetings; minutes and other records from local Ladies Aid, Women’s Missionary Society (W.M.S.), Woman’s Association (W.A.), and United Church Women (U.C.W.) groups; minutes from men’s A.O.T.S. units; Sunday School records; historic rolls and related membership records; some financial records and annual reports; a Home Mission Record Book from Rosemont United Church; and registers documenting baptisms, marriages and burials in Regina, Balgonie, Edgeley, Grand Coulee, Richardson, Kindersley, Moosomin, Sherwood, Strasbourg, and nearby area(s). Arrangement

Original order for many of these records is unclear. Items under XV.A and XV.B were arranged and listed as local church records sometime before 1990, those under XV.SA were added between 1992 and 2004, XV.SC in 2005 and 2009, and XV.SR in 2013 and 2016. The fonds was created in 2023, based on historical relationships between the congregations involved and the records previously listed.
