Custodial history

Records in the fonds were transferred to the archives in 2013, with a larger group of records from Westminster United Church, Regina. Thompson's scrapbook has been received in 1998 or earlier, before the creation of the fonds.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of 3 church registers of marriages, baptisms, and burials, created by Rev. Thompson, during his time as a minister in Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Contents include records of marriages (1948-1991), baptisms (1948-1955), and burials (1948-1968), from various locations, including: Oshawa and Thunder Bay, Ontario; Neepawa, Manitoba; Kennedy, Langbank, Windhurst, Wetwood, Landsdowne, Kisby, Wawota, Melfort, Kinistino, Cranmer, Lumsden, Balgonie, Saskatoon, Melville, and Regina, Saskatchewan. There is also a scrapbook (1949-1961) also relating to Rev. Thompson.

Saskatchewan Conference received the R.M. Thompson registers from Westminster United Church (Regina), in 2013.

Arrangement

Items listed under A.1107.XV (SR.272 and SR.273) were arranged in 2013, with another volume added under A.1108.XV (SR.320) in 2016. A scrapbook, under A.923.XV.SA.2628, had been added to the archives around 1998 and was re-described as part of the Thompson fonds in 2023.
