John Walker fonds

This fonds contains two journals and a scrapbook kept by John Walker from 1925 to 1967. They all portray Mr. Walker's enjoyment of bird watching as well as his involvement in the Saskatchewan Natural History Society. Also included are newsletters from the Saskatchewan Natural History Society and invitations from the Government of Saskatchewan to the Annual Dinner of the American Ornithologists' Union.

This collection contains one oversize scrapbook mailed to King Edward School in 1951. The scrapbook was sent from St. Edmund’s School, Mansfield Woodhouse, Mansfield, Nottingham, Wales. The scrapbook was sent in response to King Edward School sending a scrapbook to St. Edmund’s School. The scrapbook includes pictures, drawings and information about the town and school.

Margaret Messer fonds

Fonds consists of personal and professional papers created by Margaret Messer. Arranged in six series (Education, General, Teaching, Organizations, Publications, and Scrapbooks) the records document her activities as a teacher, art educator, writer, and illustrator, as well as her own education and training and her involvement with several professional groups. A large part of the collection contains information on art education programs at Balfour Technical School (1945-1974) and at the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus (ca. 1966-1984) where she was a significant influence on program development. Of particular note is the series of publications which includes articles and books written or illustrated by Messer (1946-1973). Publications of the Saskatchewan Society for Education through Art (SSEA) are found in the Organizations series, along with papers, correspondence, conference materials, minutes, newsletters, and other records pertaining to her involvement with the SSEA (1961-1985), the Canadian Society for Education through Art (1962-1984), the Saskatchewan Arts Board (1947-1970), and others. General Files (1927-1986), containing biographical information, art commissions, personal and professional correspondence, curriculum materials, travel logs, drawings by Messer, and memorabilia, provide additional insight into her life and career.

A small string-bound scrapbook containing two black and white printouts of photographs of the Methodist Church and its grounds. A third photograph is of a pile of stone rubble - presumably after the church burned down in 1949.

The fonds consists of textual and graphic materials generated by Moose Jaw St. Andrew’s Pastoral Charge and United (formerly Presbyterian) Church, as well as their church boards, committees and related bodies, local units of women’s, men’s and other groups.

Contents include: minutes of official boards and Trustees, Stewards, Session, Council, congregational, committees, Choir and Sunday School meetings; communion and historic rolls; a cradle roll; newsletters, annual reports; records of local Ladies Aid Societies, Women’s Missionary Society (W.M.S.), Woman’s Association (W.A.) and United Church Women (U.C.W.) groups, men’s groups (Men’s Club and A.O.T.S.) and youth groups, as well as other social clubs; property and building files; various financial records and correspondence; clippings, scrapbooks and files relating to church groups, history and events, such as the ordination of Lydia Gruchy; and registers of baptisms, marriages, and burials held.

Photographs in the collection include prints, postcards, and negatives, showing the church building, its site and features (e.g. stained-glass window), associated individuals and events (e.g. anniversaries).

They contain invitations and letters to Mr. and Mrs. West, newspaper clippings concerning the couple, relatives or friends. Also included are diplomas and certificates presented to Mr. and Mrs. West, programs of events, various pictures, greeting cards and postcards, brochures of tourist sites, water colour paintings done by Philip West and memorabilia of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom.

The fonds consists of records created by Prince Albert Presbyterial U.C.W., its members, treasurers, circles and committees, as well as those of its predecessor, Prince Albert Presbyterial of the United Church W.M.S. (Woman's Missionary Society).

Contents include: meeting minutes, histories, clippings, financial records; minutes of the [Presbyterial] U.C.W. Provisional Committee (1961), lists of officers (1969) and correspondence (1971); annual reports; and scrapbooks. Among the Treasurer's records are also some that pre-date Union, likely originating from an earlier W.M.S. group.

The fonds consists of textual materials generated by Regina St. John’s Pastoral Charge, its predecessor Regina Sixth Street Pastoral Charge and their constituent churches – the boards, committees and related bodies, local women’s units and other groups.

Contents include: minutes of church council, Official Board, trustees, congregation and various committee meetings; records from meetings of local United Church Women (U.C.W.) groups; historic rolls; financial ledgers; and registers of baptisms, marriages and burials that took place at St. John’s, Rae Street, Sixth Avenue, and St. Andrew’s Churches (in Regina), as well as Peepeekesis Reserve, RCMP Chapel, Whitewood, Stoney Beach, Pense, Speers, Qu’Appelle and related locations. There is also 1 album (with bulletins, directories, clippings and approx. 41 photos) and 10 photographs (most by Peter F. A 28 x 36 cm coil-bound scrapbook with about 40 pages containing news articles glued on them. There is a series of articles from the Regina Daily Star of March and April, 1935 consisting of a "narrative that has been unearthed among privately owned archives and for the first time is being made available to the public."
