Shirley Serviss is an author and poet. She was raised on a farm near Ethelton,Saskatchewan attended the University of Saskatchewan in 1971-1972, and took art classes from Reta Cowley. While working as a journalist for the Prince Albert Daily Herald, Serviss met John Hicks. Serviss earned her BA in creative writingfrom the University of Alberta, and her MA in theology from St. Stephen’s College (1997). She and Alice Majors started Roland Books; and she taught at MacEwan University. Serviss was a founding member of the WritersGuild of Alberta.
