Swift Current Museum
Since at least 1934, the Museum has collected artefacts and produced exhibitions and programming to preserve and promote the history of Swift Current and the surrounding region.
Swift Current is located in southwest Saskatchewan. It is situated along the Trans Canada Highway, 170 kilometers west from Moose Jaw, and 218 kilometers east from Medicine Hat, Alberta. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Swift Current No. 137.
The Museum's mandate is to collect, conserve, interpret, and exhibit the human and natural history of Swift Current and southwest Saskatchewan.
The Museum is a department of the City of Swift Current. Previously the Museum had been governed in cooperation with a Board of Directors but now reports under the general administrative structure of the City. The General Manager of Cultural & Aquatic Services handles the institution as a whole with the Collections Officer managing the collection and archive. The Museum Education Coordinator is responsible for the outreach and programming aspects of the Museum.
The Swift Current Museum serves to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the City of Swift Current for citizens and visitors. The Museum also serves as the archival repository for the City of Swift Current and private materials of enduring significance.
