General note

The farmer's Trading Co., general store on Broadway in 1911, entende across what is now 3rd. Ave., South before the street was opened about 1921. Built by Thos. Meredith and known as the Meredith Block in 1891, was one of the first buildings to appear on Broadway. The second story was used as a meeting place and for church serviced in the very early days. The Block was later extended to the west and was used as offices. The Canadian Bank of Commerce opened its first branch in the building in 1909, and the sign is seen on the building in this picture. At the left is Jas. L. Magrath's general store built in 1897.
