This material primarily relates to a 2007 project undertaken by the PACSW celebrating 100 years since the first women graduated from the University of Saskatchewan.

Background: In October 1990, President Ivany established a President’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women to provide information and advice on issues that affect women on campus. The President’s Advisory Council on the Status of Women continues to play an important role in addressing gender-related issues on campus. The membership of the Council is representative of the groups at the University and consequently is able to bring forward issues affecting a wide range of women in our community.

Given the nature and scope of the office, the Presidential records usually provide the most comprehensive source for documenting all facets of the University, including important initiatives, funding, research and teaching, college and departmental development, and faculty, staff, and student activities. Generally these records contain correspondence, reports, minutes, annual general reports of college and departmental activities, as well as some personal papers, speeches and addresses.

This series contains materials created and/or acquired by Walter Murray during his tenure as President, from 1908-1937, documenting nearly three decades of the University of Saskatchewan’s history including its establishment; the faculty crisis of 1919; the development of the Colleges of Agriculture, Arts & Science, Education, Engineering; Law; Medicine, Pharmacy and the Extension Division; and the financial crisis of the Depression years.

Equivalent in scope to the Presidential or Vice-presidential records, this fonds specifically documents the administration of the Saskatoon campus from 1967-1974, and includes correspondence, reports, minutes, and memoranda. It also includes considerable documentation of the various administrative committees functioning during this period.

The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, memoranda and reports concerning matters of accreditation, transfer of credits, professional examinations, etc.

These records contain reports, correspondence, working papers, and published material regarding university operations forecasts, space planning, and capital replacement costs. There are specific reports on Fine Arts, health facilities funding options, and applied research.

This fonds contains considerable information pertaining to the militia and various aspects of the military in Canada, including Defence Medical Associations. Dr. Begg's academic career is also well documented, including publications, lectures, grant applications, material relating to cancer research, and promotions and committee work at the University of Saskatchewan. Additionally, there is considerable material on the Medical Research Council, [Royal] University Hospital Board and the various societies and associations to which Dr. Begg belonged.

This fonds contains correspondence, minutes, reports, and printed material relating to the administration and activities of the Agricultural Societies Association. Included are: a copy of the Act (with revisions); historical sketches of some local societies; correspondence and reports from over 175 local societies throughout the province.

The Saskatchewan Homemaker's Clubs subseries contains: Saskatchewan Homemakers Life Membership Books (1940-1972); addresses to the Annual Convention (1933-1967); records from local Homemaker's Clubs; Cash Books; and correspondence, minutes, reports, financial statements, handbooks, press releases and publications relating to the activities of the Association. The Women's Institute subseries contains correspondence, reports, minutes, publications and other records (1971-1986). Included are submissions to the Institute's creative writing competition (1975-1981).

This fonds contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, and minutes, related to the administration and activities of the Association. Included are correspondence and reports from over fifty local horticultural societies in the province and copies of the Associations' newsletter (1950-1973).

This series includes information on curriculum, directorates, extension activities, committees, and student awards; some personal correspondence and addresses; and material relating to the SVAA.

This fonds contains of records generated in response to the requests of the Johnson Committee, as well as records relating to other senior administrative committees for which R.G. Sutherland served or chaired.

This fonds contains correspondence, minutes, reports, and clippings pertaining to a variety of student activities.

This ready-reference collection of articles and clippings has been compiled in order to highlight some main topics of interest within our holdings, or to provide straightforward answers to frequently asked questions. The collection is intended to grow as future archival workers add files for major events, persons, and topics, and flesh out those files already existing with further clippings and articles.
