Biographical history

William Giles French, originally from Calgary, Alberta, attended the University of Saskatchewan earning a Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1941. The yearbook from 1941 indicates he was an active participant in student life: "member of College Executive, Sheaf and Greystone Staffs and Economics Club. Hopes to be a C.A. in transportation work. Sports: Swimming and track."

Custodial history

Saved by William French following the events they advertised, these posters remained in his family's custody until 2003, when his widow, Elaine French, donated them to the University Archives.

Scope and content

These posters document some of the social activities available to students during the 1940-41 regular term. All are hand-made and most are the work of students Jim Quong and A.B. Farnam.
