Hanson, Stanley Duane, 1942-2001 (Archivist)

Stanley Duane Hanson was born on 5 September 1942 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, but lived for most of his early years in Regina. He earned a BA in English from the University of Saskatchewan (1964) and his MA in History in 1972 (University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus). After graduation in 1964 he was employed as an archival assistant with the Legislative Library; then joined the Saskatchewan Archives Board from 1966 to 1970. In 1970 he was hired by the University of Saskatchewan as University Archivist. He remained with the University for the rest of his career, retiring in December 1999. He died suddenly at his home in Saskatoon on 31 October 2001.

Richard Marvin Hansen CC OBC (born August 26, 1957) is a Canadian track and field athlete (Paralympic Games), activist, and philanthropist for people with disabilities. Following a pickup truck crash at the age of 15, Hansen sustained a spinal cord injury and became a paraplegic. Hansen is most famous for his Man in Motion World Tour, in which he circled the globe in a wheelchair to raise funds for charity. He was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. He was one of the final torchbearers in the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 2010 Winter Olympics. He was profiled and spoke during the 2010 Winter Paralympics opening ceremony.
