Indian Head Athletic Association

The Indian Head Athletic Association raised and disbursed funds for events such as the 1918 Dominion Day Celebration, which involved horse races, baseball, basketball, athletic sports, a parade and music bands. The association continued to organize Dominion Day (Canada Day) programs until 1959, when its assets were turned over to the Indian Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Rebekah Lodge, Indian Head (Sask.)

The Willard Rebekah Lodge #26 was lodge for women formed in Indian Head on December 22, 1913. It was associated with the International Order of Oddfellows (IOOF). (see Indian Head History Book pp 198-199).

Florida Cubans (Baseball)

Comprised of young black American players, the Cubans were a travelling baseball team playing in tournaments all over the United States and Canada.

Indian Head Chamber of Commerce

An Indian Head Board of Trade was formed in 1893 and functioned, with some periods of inactivity, until 1961. The Indian Chamber of Commerce was replaced by the Indian Head Community Board in 1980 (see Indian Head History Book pp 141-144).

The 17th Field Regiment included the 76th Field Battery from Indian Head and the 60th Field Battery from Aneroid which were combined into the 60th/76th Field Battery

University of Saskatchewan - Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM)

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) opened in 1965 with the first veterinarians graduating in 1969. WCVM serves the four western provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, as well as the territories of Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. WCVM was the second of the English-speaking veterinary colleges to be established in Canada.
