Leader-Sceptre Pastoral Charge

Leader-Sceptre-Abbey Pastoral Charge was formed around 1957, from an amalgamation of Abbey Pastoral Charge (including Abbey, Lancer, Portreeve, and Lemsford) with Leader Pastoral Charge (including Leader, Sceptre and Prelate). Around 1970, Abbey United Church separated, forming Abbey-Trinity Pastoral Charge, while Lancer and Portreeve remained within Leader-Sceptre Pastoral Charge. Lancer and Portreeve later left to form Abbey-Lancer-Portreeve Pastoral Charge, ca.1972. In 2018, the Sceptre congregation was disbanded.

Lashburn Pastoral Charge

Lashburn Pastoral Charge was created as a United Church charge in 1925, part of Battleford Presbytery, with appointments at Lashburn (St. James United Church), Battlevale and Tyrone. As of 1951, the charge consisted of Lashburn, Marshall, Tyrone and Waseca. Lone Rock was also added sometime before 1962. Waseca closed September 1, 1989, and both Hillmond and Marshall closed February 1990. Lone Rock also eventually closed, June 30, 2016.

Lanigan Pastoral Charge

Lanigan Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, part of Saskatoon Presbytery and containing the preaching points at Lanigan and Drake. Later additions included Valley Field (ca.1936). By 1946, the charge had been re-named Lanigan-Guernsey Pastoral Charge, with points at Attica, Bloomfield, Duffville, Sweet Briar, and Lanigan. As of 1951, the only points in the charge were Lanigan, Guernsey and Drake. This continued until about 1967, when the name went back to Lanigan Pastoral Charge and Drake ceased to be noted among its appointments.

On January 1, 2004, the Nokomis preaching point joined with Lanigan Pastoral Charge (Knox United Church) to create Lanigan-Nokomis Pastoral Charge.

Lang Pastoral Charge

Lang Pastoral Charge was formed as a United Church charge in 1925, part of Weyburn Presbytery, with preaching points at Lang, Crocus Plains and Lake View [Lakeview]. In the late 1930s, Crocus Plains moved to Lewvan Pastoral Charge, joining Lewvan and Colfax appointments. Between 1951 and 1958, the charge joined with Milestone to create the joint Lang-Milestone Pastoral Charge. Between 1974 and ca.1986, appointments included Parry, as well as Lang and Milestone.

On January 1, 2013, the joint charge amalgamated with Rouleau-Wilcox Pastoral Charge to create the new Soo Line Pastoral Charge, with preaching points at Rouleau, Lang and Milestone.

Lane, Homer Russell

Homer Lane was a United Church minister, who served in several Saskatchewan congregations, including Carnduff, Weyburn, Carmichael (Regina), St. Andrew's (Moose Jaw), and Knox-Metropolitan (Regina).

Born in 1904, to Methodist parents, Lane studied Arts and Theology at United College, in Winnipeg, before pursuing post-graduate studies at Emmanuel College, Toronto, and receiving his Bachelor of Divinity Degree. He was ordained in 1929 and served as Boy's Work Secretary for Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He married Grace Grover in 1932. In addition to his other work, Lane also served as Assistant Secretary of the United Church Board of Evangelism and Social Services for the Prairie Region, and later became Associate Secretary of the Board. In 1950, he was elected President of Saskatchewan Conference. After his term, Lane was honoured with a Doctor of Divinity Degree from United College (Winnipeg).

Landis Pastoral Charge

Landis Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, part of Wilkie Presbytery. As of 1926, the charge consisted of preaching points Penwherry [Pinwherry?] and Landis. By 1951, Handel and Porter had been added but only Landis and Handel remained after 1962. On July 1, 1985, Landis joined with Wilkie and Scott to form a new (3-point) Wilkie-Scott-Landis Pastoral Charge. The points eventually divided again, becoming separate Landis Pastoral Charge and Wilkie-Scott Pastoral Charge, on April 29, 2006.

Lancer Pastoral Charge

Lancer Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, containing preaching points at Portreeve and Roe. Around 1931 it became part of Abbey Pastoral Charge.

Lampman Pastoral Charge

Lampman Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, as part of Arcola Presbytery, with appointments at Lampman, Wierhill, and Morrisview. By 1951, the charge was served by a summer supply minister and consisted of Lampman, Browning and Kingsford. The charge closed ca.1966 and Lampman joined Macoun Pastoral Charge. Around 1969, Lampman became part of Kisbey Pastoral Charge.

Lake Valley Pastoral Charge

Lake Valley Pastoral Charge was formed between 1951 and 1958, as part of Moose Jaw Presbytery and containing appointments at Lake Valley and Darmody. Lake Valley had initially been part of Brownlee Pastoral Charge, in 1925, then later moved to Keeler Pastoral Charge (ca.1936-195?). Around 1965/1966, it became part of Tugaske-Eyebrow Pastoral Charge, alongside points at Brownlee, Eyebrow and Tugaske.

Eventually Lake Valley was re-formed as its own charge, on March 25, 1999. It closed on June 26, 2016.

Lafleche-Limerick Pastoral Charge

Lafleche Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, containing appointments at La fleche and Melaval. By 1951, the charge had been renamed Lafleche-Melaval Pastoral Charge and it contained the additional Harwood preaching point. The name returned to Lafleche Pastoral Charge by the 1960s and Limerick (Trinity United Church) was added. Woodrow United Church also became part of the charge ca.1969 until it closed, December 31, 2005.

The name of the charge was officially changed to Lafleche-Limerick Pastoral Charge, as of June 12, 2014.

La Ronge Pastoral Charge was created ca. 1960, part of Prince Albert Presbytery and served by a student minister.

Kyle-Lacadena Pastoral Charge

Kyle-Lacadena Pastoral Charge was formed around 1966, from a combination of Lacadena, Kyle and additional preaching points at White Bear and Sanctuary. The previous Lacadena Pastoral Charge had been formed between 1926 and 1951 (part of Rosetown Presbytery), with additional preaching points at White Bear and Tyner. The preaching point at Kyle was also formed in that period and was part of Tuberose Pastoral Charge (in Rosetown Presbytery), alongside points at Tuberose and Sanctuary, supplied by Elrose and Lacadena. Kyle Pastoral Charge was established around 1959, with an additional preaching point at Sanctuary.

Lacadena closed June 30, 2011.
