Regina Metropolitan Pastoral Charge

Regina Metropolitan Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, containing the preaching point Metropolitan United Church, formerly Metropolitan Methodist Church.

In 1951, Knox United Church amalgamated with Metropolitan United Church, to become Knox-Metropolitan United Church (and Pastoral Charge), located on the site of the former Metropolitan United Church, at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Lorne Street.

Regina Knox Pastoral Charge

Regina Knox Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, containing the preaching point Knox United Church, formerly Knox Presbyterian Church. The previous Presbyterian congregation dated back to around 1882. It built a church in 1885, at the corner of Scarth Street and 11th Avenue, and a later replacement in 1905.

In 1951, Knox United Church amalgamated with Metropolitan United Church, to become Knox-Metropolitan United Church (and Pastoral Charge), located on the site of the former Metropolitan United Church, at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Lorne Street.

Regina Chalmers Pastoral Charge

Regina Chalmers Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, from what had previously been a Presbyterian field. Around 1932, it consisted of Chalmers, Rosemont and St. James congregations but these were reorganized by 1936, with Chalmers listed as under Settlement House, until the early 1940s. The Pastoral Charge was later re-established ca.1946 and eventually closed, June 30, 1994.

Regina Carmichael Pastoral Charge was formed as a new United Church charge in 1925, containing the Carmichael United Church preaching point. The church had been originally formed (in 1925) by congregations at the former Wesley Methodist Church and Carmichael Presbyterian Church, named after a former Presbyterian Superintendent of Missions, Dr. James Carmichael. The charge closed June 30, 1995.

Regina St. James Pastoral Charge was formed as the new United Church Regina North charge in 1925, from what had previously been the Presbyterian North Regina Condie Mission Field. The church was listed as part of Regina Chalmers Pastoral Charge, ca.1932, and later part of Regina Rosemont Pastoral Charge, ca.1936 through the early 1940s. By 1946, Regina North Pastoral Charge was re-established (but listed as vacant).

United Church of Canada Wascana Presbytery

Wascana Presbytery was one of the 7 presbyteries of Saskatchewan Conference created in 2000. It was initially comprised of pastoral charges from the former Regina Presbytery. In January 2019, as part of a larger restructuring of the United Church of Canada, Wascana Presbytery was combined with Saskatchewan Conference and the other remaining presbyteries to become Region 4.

United Church of Canada Regina Presbytery

Regina Presbytery was one of the original 16 presbyteries established by the first General Council of the United Church of Canada (June 1925), to be part of the new Saskatchewan Conference. Initial boundaries were based on the previous Regina Presbytery, which had been part of the Presbyterian Synod of Saskatchewan. Prior to Union, in 1925, there had also been a Regina District, in the Saskatchewan Conference of the Methodist Church.

In 2000, Saskatchewan Conference went from 10 presbyteries to 7, with each adopting a new name. Most pastoral charges from Regina Presbytery became part of the new Wascana Presbytery.

The congregation at Knox Presbyterian Church appears to date back to around 1882, building a church in 1885, at the corner of Scarth Street and 11th Avenue, and a later replacement in 1905. Knox joined the United Church of Canada in 1925. Built around 1912, Metropolitan Methodist Church became Metropolitan United Church in 1925 (part of the United Church of Canada). It was later re-named Knox-Metropolitan United Church, with the amalgamation of downtown Regina's Knox United Church and Metropolitan United Church.
