Yorkton's first high school buildings and 1910 school under construction

Yorkton's first high school buildings. Two rooms were built in 1908 and in 1909 one additional room was added. These buildings were erected on the site of the present High School Buildings, on Darlington Street, and were in use until the new building was completed in 1911.

First building built in Yorkton

First building in Yorkton, the J.W. Thornton Building. The business men at the old town-site realized that the village had little future with a railway being built three miles to the south. J.W. Thornton was the first to move. He built this building on Livingstone street and Market street in late 1888 or early '89.

Looking east on Broadway from the International Harvester Building in 1910. Many new buildings are seen, notably the Collegiate Institute, St. Gerards Roman Catholic church and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, all built about this time.
