Bio/Historical Note: Conway James Skelly was born in Ontario in 1922. He graduated from the School of Agriculture in 1947. Skelly died in 1949.

The trophy honoured W.J. Rutherford, first dean of Agriculture. The names of all the members of the class of 1912 are engraved on a plate on the back of the trophy.
