Sunny Slope SD 1843 Correspondence1958-9 and gopher tail bounty (1930)

1958 Environmental Report on Sunny Slope School , sent with official letter (Feb. 20, 1959) from the Regional Medical Health Officer; stapled to it is an open letter from Andrew Dickson, Secretary-Treasurer of the R.M. of Indian Head #156 offering 2 cents per gopher tail to students presenting the tails to their teacher.

The series consists of a photo/text album prepared for the Indian Head Museum and the Indian Head History Book. It contains stories, information and photos that did not appear in the history book. There is also an accounts book (1931-1953), a school board minutes book (1925-1964), attendance registers (1917, 1926/7, 1927/8, 1939/40, 1948/9).

Sunny Slope School District #1843 - Envelope addressed to Mrs. Ernest Prior

An envelope addressed to "Mrs. Ernest Prior Indian Head, Sask." containing two letters - dated February 17 and February 21, 1964 - from A.L. Karras, Secretary-Treasurer of Indian Head School Unit #19. The letters apparently relate to school consolidation. The first letter announced an Indian Head School Unit Board meeting to be held in April to which all rural school district delegates were invited. The second letter announced the 49th Annual Convention of the Saskatchewan School Trustees Association at the Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina on March 9-12, 1964, and invited rural school district delegates to attend at their own expense. A folded undated piece of paper entitled "claim for hail damage (Harry Hitchens - labour) was also in the envelope with the inscription on the reverse "(Mrs) Muriel Prior Secretary Sunny Slope S.D. #1843".

A blue 3-ring binder containing 34 pages (cardboard adhesive plastic-covered) articles, documents, some students assignments, drawings and photographs of students and the school. The photographs are thoroughly captioned with names of all the people in them.
