Gitchee Wa Teepee

The Gitche Wa Teepee (Great White House) of Capt.E.M. Pierce in Cannington Manor. Built in 1883-84; portion on left was added later (note small windows in upper storey of the cubicles of the farm pupils.) The house was built of logs and covered with siding. Cupola on top holds the bell which was used to call the men from the fields; this was the second bell in Cannington, the first being that of the church which is still in position. This one is now in the Anglican church at Manor. Out buildings and stables to right; close to the house in case of blizzards. Artist unknown; his monogram is unreadable. The original sketch is in the Archive in Regina; it was supplied by Mrs. Irene (Pierce) Manion of Tulameen, B.C. and maybe the only surviving picture of the house.

Cannington Manor "The Boys"

This is a picture of Cannington Manor's "The Boys". Only three of the boys are identified, in the back row are: Charles Steedman and Ernest Beckton and in the front row is Stan Hanson.
