This series contains calendars used by Leith Knight for her schedule, appointment, and event keeping purposes.

Loose Newspaper Articles

This subseries consists of Leith Knight’s newspaper articles that were cut out of newspapers and kept in a loosely chronological order.

Obituaries

This series contains copies of obituaries for people that Leith knew. Obituaries of notable Moose Javians such as the late Austin Ellis are kept. Also contained are funeral programs of some deceased.

Correspondences

This series contains correspondences in the form of letters and cards sent to and from Leith Knight. Also included are some letters written to and from Leith’s Husband Cyril, as well as a letter pertaining to blue-green algae in Buffalo Pound Lake.

Arranged Newspaper Articles

This subseries consists of newspaper articles written by Leith Knight that were cut out of newspapers and adhered to backing paper. These differ further from the loose newspaper articles because the majority also adhere to the categorization system used for her drafts. The letters found in this subseries are: A, M, N, O, P, and Q. As with the drafts, there are also a number of articles which are not marked by a letter and a number.

Newspaper Articles

This series contains the published newspaper articles of Leith Knight. These were predominantly printed in the Moose Jaw Times Herald between the years of 1969 and 2013. The series is divided into loose newspaper articles and printed newspaper articles.

Bird Watching

This series contains information cards used by Leith to track sightings of various birds. Also contained is a list of fellow bird watchers and their contact information.

Family Letters

This series includes letters written to and from members of Leith’s family. The letters are all written by a mother and father, presumably Leith’s. The file regarding Doug includes a card and an envelope.

Church

This series contains records of Leith Knight’s involvement in different churches in Moose Jaw and abroad. The Moose Jaw churches are the Minto United Church, Zion United Church, St. Andrew’s United Church, St. Barnabas Anglican Church, St. john’s Anglican Church, St. Aidan Anglican Church, and the TAC Mission. Christ Church Cathedral is in Victoria, British Columbia, and the Parish of St. Luke is in Chelmsford, England. The particular records are programs, hymns, newspaper articles, liturgy data sheets, histories, and newsletters. Also contained is a book compiled by Leith Knight of typed notes regarding St. John’s Church.

Certificates and Awards

This series consists of certificates and awards given to Leith by the Moose Jaw Natural History Society, YWCA Moose Jaw Women of Distinction, and The City of Moose Jaw Municipal Heritage Advisory Committee. The certificates awarded are for her contributions to Nature Moose Jaw, community enhancement, her outstanding contribution to heritage education in Moose Jaw, and education through her book “All the Moose...all the Jaw,” and her history column in the Moose Jaw Times Herald.

Other Activities

This series contains records that make up miscellaneous events and activities such as, newspaper articles, information on the Monarchist League of Canada, programs from former Pub Nites hosted by Cy, a memo commemorating Cy’s 25th year working for CHAB Radio, a bulletin for a history slideshow presented by Leith and Cy, a subscription reminder for Saskatchewan History, a history tale about Christmas, an excerpt from an address book, a receipt book, a diary, and a list of how Leith’s assets should be handled. Receipts for charitable donations to the Canadian Liver Foundation and the Regina Sexual Assault Centre are also included, along with one page of biographical information on Cy and Leith Knight, and a life-study fellowship membership card and vehicle registration card belonging to a Richard W. Mills.

This subseries consists of draft documents denoted by an “M” and a number in the top right corner. The subject matter varies greatly and includes: Ethel Widmere Scott, the first oil well, the Moose Jaw clock tower, 1921 train holdups, the police department in 1911, the “Seeing Moose Jaw First” day in 1913, the Cordova Building plan, E. Pauline Johnson, Labour Day of 1909, George Marshall, pioneer railroading tragedies, Tasinaskaw Brule, sanitary conditions in 1901, the coronation of Edward VII, the Walter Main Circus, the Robin Hood Flour Mill, St. John’s Church clergyman’s house, the 1909 Earthquake, and Charles Aeneas.

This subseries consists of draft documents denoted by a “P” and a number in the top right corner. The subject matter varies greatly and includes: the first airshow in Moose Jaw, the Winter of 1886, the first plane over Moose Jaw, sunday picnics, three heroic boy scouts, Katherine Stinson, the Moose Jaw Cenotaph, Moose Jaw’s first autoshow, the 1916 Dominion Day parade, John MacDonald of Grant, Annie Hoburg, the announcement of the First World War, the Jack Armstrong Kidnapping, the proposed CPR Tunnel, the Cheesecloth Bungalow, the 1918 Influenza Epidemic, J.J. McLean, female lawbreakers, the proposed twin cities plan for Moose Jaw, runaway horses, Charlie Gower, Con Leary, William Leach, Capitol Theatre’s 1926 New Year’s celebration, women in the 1920s, and the 1923 Christmas Shopping Train.

This subseries consists of draft documents denoted by an “N” and a number in the top right corner. The subject matter varies greatly and includes: Clarrie Alfred Williams Stunt, pollution in 1890, the 128th Battalion banner, Haley’s Comet, Mayor J.T. Simpson promotional campaign, the 1884 Scientists Expedition, Dancing Pipe Lake, early expeditions of the Moose Jaw area, the first Fall fair, Dr. John MacLean, John McDougall, Richard Bogue’s acetylene light plant, the Soo Line, Police corruption in 1916, the 1907 ornate drinking fountain, the 1920 CPR Gardens reception, the old country fairs, Bronco Wilson, the 1923 stilt racing meet, the Michael Joyce Expedition, Boharm’s first rail station, Dr. Campbell Douglas, Sir Thomas Riddick, Martin “Pipeline” Johnson, the Moose Jaw Jungle, the 1924 Woolworth Building fire, early fire protection, and early Sunday school Christmas concerts.

Artifacts

This series contains artifacts of Leith Knight. Included are two patches: one commemorating the Moose Jaw Camporee of 1973, and a second commemorating the Moose Jaw CHAB Radio and television stations.
