This fonds reflects Brock Silversides’ interests in historical and contemporary culture, with particular emphasis on the history of photography, music, and film. It contains research materials used for eight of his books, including both published and unpublished images taken from a variety of archives, as well as from Brock’s personal collection. His numerous articles represent an excellent resource on photographers and the history of photography, as do several of the public exhibitions which he curated. In addition, his collections of historical newspapers, film, posters -- particularly for local musicians, Canadian film and Canadian artists -- represent a useful collection for anyone interested in these aspects of Canadian culture and society.

This autograph / memory album contains writings from important Methodist/Wesleyan ministers, preachers and missionaries from both sides of the Atlantic. It starts: "Albums are Mansions - at the Door, A Page to bid you welcome stands, And they who never met before May join with pleasure friendly hands…" While the specific ownership is unknown there is little doubt given the many famous autographs and initials adorn the entries that this book resided with one of the senior Methodist ministers or their wife. Perhaps the best-known person in the album is the Canadian educator, politician, and Methodist minister, Egerton Ryerson, for whom Ryerson University is named, wrote "Canadians regard the civil and religious institutions of England as the standard of excellence, and invariably speak of her as their Mother country and their home. Egerton Ryerson Halifax April 3rd 1837." This autograph appears to be a mere four years after Ryerson lobbied effectively to merge the Canadian and English Wesleyan Churches in 1833. In addition to the textual entries, there are two good watercolors (by J Hinks) & a fine drawing of a mother & child (which has not been glued into the album).

This fonds documents the life of Alan Nunn, his family, and communities near La Ronge, Saskatchewan; particularly in relation to the fur trade during the early 20th century.

This seems to be a complete day- by-day account of Allena Williams's life between May 26, 1840 and October 11, 1843 (Vol. 6). She was a regular churchgoer and a Sunday-School teacher. The diary notes various accounts of sermons and a service at St. Paul's for S.P.G. There are also accounts of concerts in Hanover Square Rooms, where there was music by Rossini, Schubert, and others, and Beethoven's Sonata in D. Minor finally played by Sterndale Bennette.
Furthermore, she was a studious and industrious woman who always seemed to have either a book or a needle or a pen in her hand, or to be singing or playing.

This collection contains prints using the George Baxter patented method. A Baxter print is generally considered any print done by Baxter, licensees or other printers using his method. Baxter used relief and intaglio printing methods.

This fonds contains land titles and indentures as well as miscellaneous notes and one completed chapter of a manuscript on eschatology in world religions, particularly in Islam and Christianity.

This collection relates to the writing and research of Honoré Jaxon: Prairie Visionary. This book completes Donald Smith’s “Prairie Imposters” popular history trilogy concerning three prominent figures who all pretended an Aboriginal ancestry they did not, in fact, possess – Honoré Jaxon, Grey Owl, and Long Lance. The material includes photocopies of material from various sources including other archives. Unless indicated titles were supplied by author/donor.
William Henry Jackson, also known as Honoré Joseph Jaxon, Louis Riel’s secretary in
1884/85 immediately before the North-West Rebellion, labour leader (b in Toronto 13
May 1861; d in New York C, NY 10 Jan 1952). After his family moved from Ontario to Prince Albert, Sask, Will Jackson joined them, abandoning his Classics course at the University of Toronto. Having completed 3 years there, he was one of the best-educated men in the area. He became secretary of the local farmers' union, and in this capacity he met Riel in the summer of 1884. Sympathetic to the Métis cause, he went to live at Batoche, Sask, to serve as Riel's secretary, converted to Roman Catholicism and later accepted Riel's new religion. After the failure of the rebellion, or “resistance,” Jackson was tried and committed to the lunatic asylum at Fort Garry, Man. Escaping 2 months later, he walked to the American border and eventually settled in Chicago, Ill. As Honoré Joseph Jaxon he worked as a union organizer for over 2 decades. "Riel's Secretary" moved to New York after WWI, where he died (Canadian Encyclopedia Online).

This small portion of the collection consists of copies of articles and clippings on prominent Canadian veterinarians, the anniversaries of the OVC over time, notable medical advancements in veterinary medicine and other aspects of the profession's history including artefacts. The books he donated can be found in the library catalogue with a word search of "Rosen Collection of Veterinary Medicine History"

This fonds contains material relating to the personal and professional life of Luise Herzberg, including materials relating to her childhood and schooling; family documents; materials relating to her parents, Paul and Elsbeth Oettinger, correspondence with her sister, Lotte Thurnauer; and materials received or collected by her son Paul Herzberg. The fonds contains substantial material relating to Luise’s scientific work, including correspondence with international colleagues, and reprints of her articles.

This fonds contains Sorokin's: manuscripts, published works, correspondence, clippings, Harvard University Administrative files, and administrative files of the Research Centre for Creative Alturism. Also included are a few photographs, a microfilm and cassette tapes, as well as works by others about Sorokin and his theories. Some of the material about Sorokin was added after his death.
