University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men's Basketball Team - Morris Anderson

Bio/Historical Note: Morris Anderson, a native of Saskatoon, was the leading scorer on the Huskies basketball team in the 1950-51, 1951-52 and 1952-53 seasons. He was captain of the team his last two years. He was acknowledged throughout Western Canada as Saskatchewan's premier player. Anderson earned a BEd in 1953, and a BA in 1956. Upon graduation Anderson returned to his high school, Bedford Road Collegiate, to teach and coach. Beginning in 1955 he taught at Luther College in Regina and twice led the Lions to the provincial high school title. Luther also won the U of S tournament twice. As a player Anderson paced the Regina Crescents to numerous provincial senior men's championships.

University of Saskatchewan Huskiettes Basketball Team - Karen Kusler

Bio/Historical Note: Karen Kusler Young, a graduate of Maple Creek High School, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (BSPE 1975; BEd 1977) in 1971. She was on the Huskiettes basketball team for five seasons, scoring 1,899 points for an average of 11.7 per game and grabbing 978 rebounds. Kusler was in the top 10 in conference scoring each of her last four seasons and among the top 10 in rebounds the last three years. The Huskiettes won the Eastern Division of the WCIAU title in her rookie season and were 128-34 in her five years. She missed only four games. Kusler represented Canada at the World University Games in Moscow in 1973.

Bio/Historical Note: Robert (Bob) Thompson, a graduate of Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (BSPE 1977; BEd 1977) in 1970. A forward on the Huskies basketball team, Thompson consistently led the team in scoring and rebounding. He was selected to the all-star team in the WCIAA three times in five years - 1971-72, 1972-73 and 1973-74. Thompson was tops in the conference in rebounding for two seasons - with a game high of 23 in 1971 - and in 1971-72 led the Huskies to first place in the East Division of the WCIAA.

University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men's Basketball Team - Roger Ganes

Bio/Historical Note: Roger Ganes, a graduate of Mount Royal Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled in 1973. Nicknamed "The Ironman," he had the distinction of never missing a game in his five years with the Huskies basketball team. He scored a career-high 40 points in a game against the UBC Thunderbirds in 1977 and had eight games where he collected 20 or more rebounds. Ganes held the CIAU record for career rebounds (1,164) for 27 years, as well as the Huskies conference scoring record (1,707) for 29 years. Ganes was the first player in CIAU history to top 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Ganes was named to the Canada West conference all-star team four times (1974-75, 1975-76, 1976-77, 1977-78) and was an honourable mention All-Canadian in 1975-76. He was awarded the E. Kent Phillips Trophy in 1976 as male athlete of the year at the U of S. He earned his BSPE in 1977 and his BEd in 1978.
