Historical Record of Prince Albert Presbytery

Bound album "The Historical Record of the Presbytery of Prince Albert", 1929. Contents include a typed history, written by J. Sheridan Bole, Chairman of the Presbytery Historical Committee, with a brief outline of the Presbyterian Mission at Prince Albert and of the Presbytery, and detailed histories of the charges within the Presbytery. The back part of the volume ("Illustrations" section) contains photographs of churches and other buildings associated with church activities, such as mission hospitals and schools. Prints are partially attached to pages, while negatives, in protective envelopes, are also loosely tucked into the volume.

The fonds contains a set of nine black and white photographs dating from approximentally 1929. The set belonged to Dorothy Snelling's deceased grandmother and they were part of her personal collection. The photographs were taken from the top of the Melfort Water Tower. When placed beside one another they provide a 360 degree view of the Melfort town site. One photograph is missing from the set.

A truck with two cows in it payload sits in the farmyard of a two-storey farm home.
The collection contains one photocopy of a black and white photograph. Taken in 1930, the image is a formal group portrait of the Melfort United Church's young people's group, "The Alerts," of which Mabel Braaten was a member.

Melfort Research Station Buildings

The building on the left was the Seed Cleaning Plant, the lower building on the right was the Hog Barn. The cleaning plant was used to clean seed for farmers and then in later years it was used by the station for storing feed.
Director’s house at the Melfort Research Station

Exterior view of the Director’s house at the Melfort Research station. It was a 1 1/2 story house with a veranda and was located on the southwest side of the building area. Adolf Kaminski, Tim Wright, Dennis Ewanus were some of the people who lived there.
The fonds contains three black and white photographs, and eight black and white scanned copies of original photographs. The copied photographs were scanned at 300 dpi with 16 million colours. The photographs range in date from 1938 - 1949, and include images of the Lady Minto Hospital, views of Melfort's Main Street, parades in Melfort, Herb Anderson and students of North Star School, Irma Staff and her brothers, and the North Star School ball team.

The Collection contains black and white photographs from Ruth Marshall's private collection. All of the photographs are of Melfort businesses and streets including the water tower, train station, and Sask-Tel building.
