North Battleford Chamber of Commerce Honours Past President / North Battleford Merchants Prepare for City's 50th Anniversary

File contains an image of Victor Oland, president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, presenting Otis Jones with a scroll that recognizes his efforts as president of the North Battleford Chamber of Commerce in 1939. Mr. Jones is the oldest living past president of the organization. File also contains an image of Kerr Cleaner's in North Battleford with a false front to make it appear as it might have 50 years ago. This work was done as part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of North Battleford.

Most Improved Cadet / Safe at Royal Dairies Smashed

File contains an image of Leading Cadet Bob Halifax, who was presented with the award for most improved cadet in the Battlefords Navy Cadet Corps from Tom Boyd of Navy League of Canada. File also includes an image of the safe at Royal Dairies which was smashed by theives. The crooks got away with $600.00.

Walter W. Brown School Open in Langham, SK

Brown, in whose honour the school was named, and Ian Stockan, the master of ceremonies at the official opening of the school, posing in front of the plaque at the new school in Langham, SK. Included is an image of some of the students playing in the gymnasium at the new school.

Ed Lukowich Curling Rink / Construction Work on Hotel in North Battleford

File contains an image of the Ed Lukowich curling rink that recently captured the first annual North-West high school curling bonspiel in North Battleford, SK. Team members include Ed Lukowich, Doug McLeod, Dave Moore, and Dennis Thomas. File also includes an image of the construction work that is in progress at the New Clarendon Motor Hotel in North Battleford. When completed it will be the tallest building in the city.

Demolishing Clarendon Hotel / Lions Zone Curling Champions

File contains an image of crews dismantling the Clarendon Hotel in North Battleford. Also included is an image of Jim Hamilton's curling rink from Saskatoon, who defeated the Harold Gillies rink to win the Lion's zone curling championship in North Battleford. Team members include Jim Hamilton, Lorne Kershaw, Ray Lorman, and Charlie Blake.

Grand Champion Bulls

File contains photographs of the Grand Champion bulls at the North Battleford Bull Show and Sale. Pictured is Broadview Anxiety, grand champion Hereford bull sold by the Zeremba Bros. of Blaine Lake SK to the Adamson Bros. of Wakaw SK for $950.00. Included is an image of a Shorthorn bull, Norbion Gaffer, who was shown by Frank Reinthaller, and sold to K. Fraser McMillan of Plenty SK for $600.00.

Water Levels Low in Farm Dug-Outs

File contains two images of the same farm dug-out near Maymont SK. In the previous year the dugout was overflowing, in this year the water level is significantly lower.

Four Provincial Hockey Teams Honoured in North Battleford SK

File contains an image of captains of four local teams that won provincial championships who were recognised at a banquet in North Battleford SK. Pictured are Skip Krake (North Battleford Beaver-Bruins, Juvenile "AA"), Dwight Carruthers (Lashburn Flyers, Juvenile "C"), Dick McLeod (Dodsland, Bantam "C"), and Ted Sealy, (Battleford BYCY, Bantam "B"). Also pictured is Al Ritchie of Regina who was the guest speaker at this hockey banquet.

North Battleford Parade

File contains photographs of two floats that were in the Battleford's Agricultural Society Exhibition parade. Pictured is the Sunnyside Food Centre float, made with marshmallows, and the Notre Dame Hospital float commemorating the hospital's 50th anniversary.

School Bus Given to North Battleford School for the Mentally Retarded / Assistant Bandmaster Appointed

File contains an image of a 36 passenger school bus that was given to the North Battleford School for the Mentally Retarded. The bus is to be used by the school as well as the Saskatchewan Council for Crippled Children. File also includes an image of Jim Bowman, who was recently appointed assistant bandmaster with the North Battleford City Kinsmen Band.

Golfer, Richard Ternier / Louise Parker, Light Horse Class Winner

File contains an image of Richard Ternier of North Battleford, winner of the provincial sand greens golf title with rounds of 78-77=155. File also contains an image of Louise Parker, of Marwayne AB, sitting on her horse. Ms. Parker won the ladies glamour class and the over-all glamour class at the light horse show at the Battlefords Agricultural Society's Exhibition.

Prize Winning Flowers and Yard

File contains an image of the prize winning front yard at the home of D.P. Sanders of North Battleford SK. Included is an image of a basket of 12 gladioli that won first prize in its class grown by W.J. Thrower of Ruddell SK. (Both these prizes/awards were chosen and given out by The Battlefords Horticultural Society.)

Memorial Gift to School for Retarded Children in North Battleford
