II. Pre 1940 Series

This series contains the records of John Diefenbaker’s personal and political activities before his election to Parliament in May 1940, excluding his legal papers (MG 01/I Legal Series) and his family correspondence (MG 01/V Legal Series). There is material about his education at the University of Saskatchewan and his military career during the First World War. There is a large section on the Saskatchewan provincial Conservative Party which he led from 1936 to 1939. This series also contains transcripts of the Bryant Commission Inquiry into jails and provincial police for which Diefenbaker served as legal counsel. Diefenbaker received many requests for assistance from members of the general public which provide information about the wide range of political, social and financial problems Saskatchewan experienced in the 1920s and 1930s.

Memorabilia

This series contains a summary of light aeroplane clubs in Canada. It also includes an air regulation examination, and a newspaper clipping about pilots passing a test.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence written by Emil George Berg to his wife and son, sympathy letters to Ida Berg after her husband's death, and some correspondence written to George. Series contains three files: Correspondence from George, Sympathy letters, and Miscellaneous correspondence.

Tysdal Family

This series contains the records created by members of the Tysdal family, and accumulated by Jerry Kaiser. They include a project about a last day on the Tysdal family farm, a certificate of naturalization and accompanying forms, a delayed birth certificate, an agreement for the sale of land, an identification card and accompanying photographs, handwritten receipts, newspaper clippings, and a humorous handwritten anecdote about a pig.

Military

Series contains records relating to Emil George Berg's military experience during the First World War, including notification of his medal and his discharge certificate, as well as correspondence written to Ida Berg during the Second World War. Also includes a print of a photograph from Camp Hughes, Manitoba, in 1916 and a photograph of George mounted on a larger background that has the words "For King and Empire" and "United Empire" on it around the Union Jack and Canadian flag. A header, which has been cut off from its original place, includes his name, battalion, and enlistment place and date.

War Services Club

This series consists of two Visitor Books signed by those visiting the War Services Club and a volume that recorded requests of servicemen and hosts to arrange hospitality, meals, and board on certain occasions from 1940 to 1944.

This series holds correspondences relating to donations, many of these are in the form of thank you notes to donors. It also includes Ration Administration forms and correspondence. This material is regarding the ratios provided to the organization – forms sent by the Council and letters from the Ratio Administration asking for clarification on the forms.

This series contains meeting minutes, by-laws, and declarations. It includes descriptions of the organization’s various committees as well as their reports received by the executive committee. It also contains one rubber stamp that reads: 'Moose Jaw War Co-Ordinating War Services Council / Chairman or Vice Chairman/ Treasurer’. The stamp appears on various reports throughout the series and fonds.
