Ephemera

This series contains information booklets on the Moose Jaw Union Hospital and its nursing program, the Nurses’ Glee Club concert, the Moose Jaw General Hospital and Nurses Residence, a calendar for the Moose Jaw Union Hospital School of Nursing, and requirements for approval of schools of nursing and admission to the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association. Also included are booklets on the official cornerstone laying and opening of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Memorial Wing.

Photographs

This series contains two black and white photographs accumulated by the Moose Jaw Union Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association, such as a portrait of graduated laboratory technologists, an artist’s rendition of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, the first Moose Jaw hospital, and the changing hospitals over time.

Memorabilia

This series contains programs and tickets from various events in Moose Jaw. It includes two photographs of Nurse Shepherd and Nurse Drewry (two of the first nurses in Moose Jaw), a photograph of Kay Bird in Crescent Park, as well as two photographs of the Turner & Ellis Hardware parade float. This series contains the some teaching records of Bessie M. Richards, the mother of Austin Ellis as well as TCA airplane papers that fell from the TCA airplane crash over Ross School. It also includes a chart about the first government of Saskatchewan, a prescription from Fysh Drugstore, a Zion Church Choir programme, and a Saskatchewan Music Association festival ticket.

This series contains R.H. Clarke’s (Kay Ellis’ father) Bank of Hamilton account book, a VIA Air Mail envelope, a Bradstreet’s Commercial Ratings in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Yukon, three financial shares owned by the Ellis’ and R.H. Clarke, and a Moose Jaw land title in Austin Ellis’ name.

This series contains various correspondences between the Ellis’ and other family members. It includes a telegram from Austin Ellis to Kay Ellis, two letters from John Le Caire, a letter from the Peacocks, a letter to R. H Clarke, among others.

This series contains two published works collected by the organization: Grain Spring 1992, Vol. 20, Number 1 and One Hundred Years of Grasslands by Marjorie Rohde Mason. The first work says “property of Prairie Pens” on the title page and the second was donated to the Prairie Pens by the author.
