General note

The Veterans Guard of Canada were veterans from the First World War who volunteered for service in the Second World War. Due to these men now being in their forties and deemed to old to fight overseas, the Canadian Government decided to utilize the experience these men held by assigning them into groups of about 250 men who served on Canadian soil. These men were Canada's first line of defense if an enemy were to attack Canada. They also were assigned to guard interment camps and were responsible for guarding the transportation of any POW's to Britain. They were disbanded in 1947
