Biographical history
Agnes Frejd was born in Bruce Mines, Ontario in 1899 to Swedish immigrants. She went to Normal School in North Bay, Ontario and became a teacher. Tempted by the teachers’ salaries in Saskatchewan, she moved west to teach. She taught first at Admiral and later at Caron Prairie School. She married Clarence Richards in 1922 and had two daughters, Faye and Ferne. Clarence and Agnes sold their farm in 1961 and moved to Moose Jaw.

The Agnes (Frejd) Richards fonds consists of 34 cm of textual records. This includes 16 textbooks brought from Ontario to assist Mrs. Richards in her classroom. The textbooks cover a variety of subjects, such as poetry, composition, history, nature study, and arithmetic.

This material was found in the attic of Clarence Richards in Caron, Saskatchewan. It was donated to the Moose Jaw Public Library Archives Department by Jean Mercer in 2012.
