Biographical history

Betty Dawn (Erb) Nicholl was born on October 13, 1924 in Kitchener, Ontario. In 1933, she moved to the Clay Hill district to live with her grandparents on their farm. She then moved to Moose Jaw to study music and work at Assiniboia Music and Eaton’s. In 1956, Betty married Wilson Nicholl of Belfast, Northern Ireland. They lived in Belfast for 16 years and they returned to Moose Jaw in 1972. Betty taught music and worked for Eaton’s, which later became Sears, until 1990. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Boharm Young People’s Club. Betty and Wilson had two children: Maureen and Steven. She died January 17, 2008.

Scope and content

This fonds contains photographs and memorabilia created and collected by Betty Dawn (Erb) Nicholl. It includes five photo albums containing photographs of her family, friends, and travels. Many of the photographs were taken in Moose Jaw and most of the photographs are identified. It also contains two Prairie Breezes newsletters, announcing Betty’s engagement and marriage to Wilson Nicholl as well as a Central Collegiate Institute 75th Reunion Yearbook.
