Administrative history
The Crestwynd Community Club was organized as a women’s club in the 1920's. From 1941 to 1947 the club was a member of the Provincial Homemaker’s Club. In 1942, the club, at the request of the Men’s Sport Club paid $80.00 owing on the community hall and took over management of the hall. The hall has been used for health clinics, fowl suppers, bingos, concerts, dances, elections, wedding receptions, carnivals and other meetings. Through fund-raising, the Club has made regular donations to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Cancer Society and other organizations. In 1947 the Club purchased six acres of land south of Crestwynd for a sports ground. Some of the active members over the years included Jean Panko, Edit Johnson, Sophie Huntley, Ester Johnson, Amy Barber, Lillian Cameron, Sharon Gilbert, Loraine Ramage, Bernetta Fysh and Myrtle White. The men and husbands in the community also played an active role in the Club. From 1978 to 1980 the Club organized, compiled, edited and published a local history book, “The Rolling Hills Review 1840-1980". Financial assistance was provided by “New Horizons”, a federal government program to assist senior citizens in projects of their choice. The Club formed a board of directors from their senior members. Funding was also provided through “Celebrate Saskatchewan” grants applied for through the municipalities of Baildon and Hillsborough. The book was printed in 1980 by Odyssey Impressions of Moose Jaw.
