General note

Evelyn Blanche Norgord was born on September 24, 1899. Evelyn's parents Harvor and Betty Norgord immigrated from Chicago, Illinois to a homestead forty miles from Davidson, Saskatchewan. Evelyn Norgard entered the teaching profession in 1920 and continued until 1968 when she retired after forty-seven years. She taught grade three and four in Biggar from 1927 to 1968. Evelyn was a member of the Stagettes and the founder of the Milk for Britain Fund.
In memory of her career as an educator, the estate of Evelyn Norgord created the Evelyn Norgord Scholarship in Education ($2,000 matching grant). To be selected for this scholarship, one must meet the following criteria: Attended either Grade Three or Grade Four in elementary education in Biggar, Saskatchewan and be a resident of Biggar or reside within 25 km of the Town of Biggar, Saskatchewan. Preference will be given to students exhibiting a preference for teaching in an elementary school in a town, village or rural point in Saskatchewan.
A similar scholarship award is named in honour of her parents Harvor and Betty Norgord.
