Moose Jaw Souvenir Book collection

This collection consists of souvenir books and pamphlets about Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. This material contains facts and figures about Moose Jaw as well as photographs and illustrations of the city. They were produced from 1903-1929 and many of the booklets were issued by the Moose Jaw Board of Trade. This material was collected by the Moose Jaw Public Library in their vertical subject files.

This collection consists primarily of photocopies of correspondence, articles, photographs, sessional papers, and press clippings, related to William Henry Jackson (or Honore Jaxon, as he is also known) including copies of his correspondence. The originals of much of the material dates from 1885. The material is organized and recorded according to the structure that Griffen and Greenland have devised.

This collection contains material relating to the Lieutenant Colonel D.V. Currie, V.C Armoury dedication ceremony on June 12, 1988 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Lieutenant Colonel G. F. Carline, C.D. was the master of ceremonies. The fonds contains the program for the event as well as a typescript of his speech, with handwritten additions and corrections.

This fonds contains materials relating to the career of Christopher Kent, professor and head of the history department at the University of Saskatchewan. This fonds documents his time as a professor teaching various history classes, his work in supervising masters and phd students in their thesis writing, his work with the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals and the Victorian Studies Association of Western Canada, as well as his time as head of the history department including his work with the Canadian Journal of History. Also included are some materials from his undergrad studies at the University of Toronto – mainly syllabus and other handouts, with some notes and essays when they related to his later research areas. As per his faculty bio his “research areas are “Bohemia” in Britain 1815-1914 – that is the social history of the artistic and literary professions and their relationship to the idea of Bohemia as a social and cultural, as well as actual physical space (particularly in London). Other continuing and related research interests are Victorian journalism and journalists, and Victorian novels and novelists.”

Athol Murray fonds

This fonds consists of records of Father James Athol Murray from 1918 but particularly from his time at the Notre Dame College from 1927 to his death in1975. Father Murray's interests were intricately involved with his role as College administrator and teacher and as a result there is not always a clear distinction between his personal records and records of the college. This fonds contains: photographs of Athol Murray and albums he compiled, many related to school events as well Canadian and international events; textual records consisting of extensive correspondence with international figures, including Canadian Prime Ministers Sir Wilfred Laurier, Louis St. Laurent, Mackenzie King, Lester Pearson, John Diefenbaker and Pierre Trudeau, as well as Notre Dame students and alumni; newspaper clippings; and publications prepared by Athol Murray. The videos and sound recordings document Father Murray's speeches and interviews on such topics as sports, education, politics and religion. Gordon Snelgrove fonds

Incomplete collection of 35mm slides used by Gordon Snelgrove in his teaching. These slides were in circulation until 2010. The paper mounted slides include handwritten notes in blue and red pen by Gordon Snelgrove.
Snelgrove’s previously used glass lantern slides were discarded when the Department of Art and Art History moved from the Hangar Building to the Murray Building. Many of the 35mm slides have also been discarded or re-mounted in plastic as the original cardboard mountings were damaged with time.
Also included is a copy of a book annotated by Snelgrove entitled.
