Abandoned beach platform and cliff-line. Behind the present beach the land rises slowly to the well developed platform of the so called "25 foot Raised Beach", backed by a steep "fossil cliff" nearly 50 feet high. Much of it consists of Old Red Sandstone. Isle of Bute, Western Scotland. Monkhouse, 1959, p. 43.
