Rev. G.N. Dobie

Rev. G.N Dobie was the priest of St. John's Anglican Church in Indian Head from 1895 to 1909. He left to become the Warden of St. Chad's College, Regina, and later became Archdeacon and Dean of the Diocese of Qu'Appelle

Qu'Appelle and Edgeley Pastoral Charges fonds

The fonds consists of textual materials generated by Qu’Appelle Pastoral Charge and (the later separate) Edgeley Pastoral Charge, as well as its constituent congregations – church boards, committees and related bodies, local women’s units and other groups.

Contents include: minutes of official boards, Managers, Stewards, Session, congregational, Building Committee, Manse Committee and Sunday School meetings; records of local Ladies Aid Societies, Women’s Missionary Society (W.M.S.), Women’s Federation (W.F.), Woman’s Association (W.A.) and United Church Women (UC.W.) groups; various financial records and property files; church history notes, bulletins and directories; historic rolls, communion and membership rolls; and registers of baptisms, marriages, and burials held at Edgeley, Qu’Appelle, and related locations. There is also a small group of minutes and related items from the Arts and Crafts Guild.

Excerpts From the Past

12 legal-sized pages of photocopied newspaper articles from the Qu'Appelle Progress (1885-1969) stapled together into one booklet. The booklet was created as a celebration of Qu'Appelle's 75th year as a town. The articles were used in preparing the Qu'Appelle History Book "Qu'Appelle: Footprints to Progress" (ISBN 0-88925-215-7).

There are also photographs: a group portrait of adults and children outdoors, captioned "Pupils of File Hills Indian School", 1925; exterior view of a large building, with postcard template and notes on back "Round Lake Residential School [...] Additions" and "Complements of W.J. Cookson" (no date provided); and a group photo of 14 adults and children, on the steps of a building, under sign "Cote School 1915" (no date provided for the photo).
