Property files, 1925-1983

Series consists of files regarding the title to various church properties, including churches and manses, in Saskatchewan Conference (region), as well as general correspondence relating to property. Contents include correspondence, reports, financial records, and loan and grants documents.

Within the series, there are four sub-groupings: Titles; General; Manses; and Charges. "Property - TItles" files (no. 517 through 529) are mostly listed by type and contain correspondence pertaining to titles of church properties. "Property - General" files (530 through 549) are sorted alphabetically by topic and contain general correspondence pertaining to church properties. "Property - Manses" files (550 through 554) are sorted by sub-topics, e.g. furnishings, and contain correspondence and reports pertaining the furnishing, financing and modernization of manses. "Property - Charge" files (555 through 872) are organized by Pastoral Charge, from Aberdeen through Young-Zelma, and contain: general correspondence pertaining to properties held by particular charges in Sask. Conference; applications for loans and grants; building plans; financial statements; and annual reports. Photographs are also noted in this group.

Acts and Proceedings of the Presbyterian Church in Canada

Contains [published volumes] "Acts and Proceedings ...of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, for the years 1897 and 1901 through 1925, which include proceedings of the General Assembly, reports of various church bodies, statistical information and the Rolls of Synods and Presbyteries which provide the names of ministers and elders for congregations.

Conference office files

Series consists of a variety of records relating to the administrative role of the Saskatchewan Conference office, overseeing and supporting the work of presbyteries and local United Church congregations and missions in Saskatchewan. Records in this series appear to have been received in one group and reflect the range of activities administrative and field staff was involved in, especially from the 1950s through the 1970s.

Files primarily contain correspondence, reports, and related materials documenting: financial grants and loans made to support church congregations and their work; research and educational projects undertaken within the Church (and with external partners); meetings and decisions of various committees, task groups, boards and divisions; training and staff job descriptions; information and statistics from presbyteries; activities of the General Council; mission work among indigenous people on several Saskatchewan reserves; training and placement of student and lay ministers and missionaries; titles, grants and property information for various churches; newsletters and small scale publications from the Conference and its committees; youth outreach activities; and information about the operations of various incorporated ministries in Saskatchewan, including the Prairie Christian Training Centre (PCTC), Oliver Lodge, the United Church Housing Corporation of Regina, and several youth camps.

Presbyterian Church Association materials

Consists of publications of the Presbyterian Church Association, which was a group of clergy and laymen opposed to the organic union of the Presbyterian Church with other churches. Series also includes materials published by other individuals, groups, or churches who were opposed to union (though some of the individuals may have been members of the Association). Publications other than those of the Association have been listed separately and the author and publisher identified where possible.

Conference Secretary and office files, 1923-1950

Series consists of records relating to the administrative role of the Saskatchewan Conference office. Contents include: correspondence of the Secretary of Conference (1923-1924, 1928-1934), mostly Rev. A.W. Ingram; correspondence relating to the Cowan Estate (1949-1950); typed Records of Proceedings for the 1926 Conference; typed and mimeographed copies of reports presented at the annual conference (1934); and a file of documents relating to the Conference Cane, its history and symbolism.

Manse plans

Series consists of building plans and specifications for various manses or small houses, associated with the United Church in Saskatchewan. Contents include items relating to: Central Butte, Climax, Eastend, Kipling, Lumsden, Midale, Mossbank, Moose Jaw (Grace United Church), Porcupine Plain, Spiritwood, Tomkins, Wawota, and Whitewood.

Church Camps, 1959-1967

Series contains reports, correspondence, newsletters, and other documents relating to the Conference Camp Committee and the activities of various camps in Saskatchewan. Contents include files relating to: B'Say-Tah (1962); the Conference Camp Committee newsletter, Smoke Signals (1966-1967); Committee conferences and training events held at Prairie Christian Training Centre, or P.C.T.C. (1964-1966); a Camp Survey (1961); Crystal Lake United Church Camp (1964); Kipabiskau United Church Camp (1962-1964); and a Senior Girls Camp (1959-1961).

Church plans

Series consists of building plans and blueprints for various churches, additions, and proposed related constructions in Saskatchewan. Contents include items relating to: Avonlea, Camp McKay and Round Lake Mission, Moose Mountain and Carlyle, Carievale, Frontier (Climax Pastoral Charge), Goodwater, Grenfell (Sakimay United), Keeler, LaFleche, Leader, Moose Jaw (Grandview and Minto United), Regina (Carmichael Presbyterian/United, Hillsdale United, St. James United, Whitmore Park United), Rockglen, Semans, Sceptre, Sintalute, Wapella, and an unidentified church (J. Wright, ca.1960) near the Radway Lumber Co.

Brief Committee, 1964-1973

Series includes copies of briefs presented by Saskatchewan Conference to governments and church departments, as well as related correspondence and reports regarding the Brief Committee.

Christian Education and Training Events, 1944-1973

Series contains minutes, reports, correspondence, pamphlets, curriculum materials, publications and other records relating to the work of the Board of Christian Education (including Adults, Senior Adults, Children and Youth sections), Saskatchewan Conference Christian Education Committee and other associated Committees, e.g. for Girls' Work, Boys' Work, Youth, Kairos. There are also Training Events files, covering planning, curriculum, correspondence and other documentation of events held for various audiences of leaders, youth, lay ministry and related groups.

Files appear organized in 3 main sets: Board of Christian Education (file no. 136 to 147); Saskatchewan Conference Christian Education Committee (file no. 148 to 162); and Training Events (file no.163 to 189).

Home Missions, 1961-1973

Series contains minutes, reports, correspondence, and other records relating to the work of the United Church Board of Home Missions. Contents include files related to the Board's annual meetings, correspondence and financial assistance to congregations and programs (through various Home Mission Committees).
