Music 1961-65 - "Music in a Tent"

News from the University of Saskatchewan 1965; "CUTLINE: Music in a tent. Teachers taking University of Saskatchewan Summer School classes in school music methods and materials are led in an instrumental number by Professor William Otis, College of Education, University of Saskatchewan Regina Campus. The tent, in Qu'Appelle Place, overlooks Echo Lake, one of a chain of four lakes in the Qu'Appelle Valley."

Music 1961-65 - Student Teachers' Music Display

The Saskatchewan Bulletin, May 1965, p. 21; "Neut the Flute, Antoinette the Clarinet, Lovelase the Double Bass and friends pose in concert. Their creators, Sisters Danielle, Kateri, Albertine and Donalda are students at the College of Education, Avenue A Campus. The miniature musicians helped the Sisters during their recent practice teaching session in Saskatoon to show Grade I pupils from St. Paul's School and Grade IV and V pupils from Bishop Murray School how instruments are held and played. They are constructed from wire, papier maché and cloth."

Music in Early Childhood Program

Bio/Historical Note: In the Music in Early Childhood program at the Albert Community Centre, 130 children learn the basics of music. While the tots play games, sing, listen to stories and move to music, they also learn about such things as melody, rhythm, beat and musical terms. The program, which began in 1986, has 22 classes for children aged three to seven. The program is run by the University of Saskatchewan through its music and extension departments (1987).

Colgate School - Music Class
