Drafts, files and correspondence document the preparation of publications on the Franklin Expeditions, T.A. Patrick, and R.G. Ferguson. Administrative records relate to Dr. Houston's position as Head of Medical Imaging.

This fonds documents Allan Gonor’s active engagement with the people he met and the cultures he experienced. His was a curiosity borne of genuine interest, which manifested itself not only in his work as a physician, but also in his avocation: art; and in the numerous films and photographs he took. These document the local communities in and near North Battleford, Saskatchewan; including Hutterite colonies and First Nations reserves; as well as countries around the world. It documents his life and career, his interest in indigenous art and culture, and reflects his friendships with a wide variety of artists and writers, as well as the numerous individuals he met.

This fonds documents Dommasch's career as a medical and artistic photographer and educator. This photographic material covers a wide range of subject matter, with particular emphasis on medicine, natural history, the Canadian arctic, and grain elevators. Considerable reference material, relating to the history of photography as a science and an art, is also included. In addition, this fonds contains Dommasch's extensive collection of posters, including those used for the exhibition, "Posters Against War and Violence." This fonds contains correspondence, clippings, notes, certificates and awards, photographs, slides, sketches, posters, films and publications documenting the interests and career of Hans Dommasch.

Saskatoon Postcard Collection

These postcards are printed photographs (not real photo) images of the University of Saskatchewan campus, and Saskatoon, taken during the 1940s. The postcards have not been used: each is identified with a “negative number” on the back, although the photographer is not known. It is assumed these were a reference set, from which orders for more postcards could be made. They are in pristine condition and provide exceptionally clear images of early University buildings, such as the original Veterinary Medicine building and the student-built “New Medical College,” as well as rare images of Saskatoon, including the Bessborough Hotel gardens and views of bridges from the road.

This fonds contains materials created or received by the offices of VP (Special Projects) and VP (Planning and Development), including materials relating to information technology, budget preparation in response to the funding cutbacks of the 1980s; initiatives in biotechnology, toxicology, and native studies; major program reviews including the Colleges of Medicine, Graduate Studies, and Home Economics; and the Issues and Options project. Additionally, this fonds contains some documentation relating to Holmlund's tenure as Acting President in 1989 including briefing notes for incoming president JWG Ivany; and to Holmlund's work on the boards of Ag-West Biotech, the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College, etc. Publications and addresses from the whole of Holmlund's career are also included; these relate to his prior work in biomedical engineering, computing services, USG, etc. as well as to his senior administrative duties.

Dr. Begg's academic career is also well documented, including publications, lectures, grant applications, material relating to cancer research, and promotions and committee work at the University of Saskatchewan. Additionally, there is considerable material on the Medical Research Council, [Royal] University Hospital Board and the various societies and associations to which Dr. Begg belonged.

This fonds reflects Brock Silversides’ interests in historical and contemporary culture, with particular emphasis on the history of photography, music, and film. It contains research materials used for eight of his books, including both published and unpublished images taken from a variety of archives, as well as from Brock’s personal collection. His numerous articles represent an excellent resource on photographers and the history of photography, as do several of the public exhibitions which he curated. In addition, his collections of historical newspapers, film, posters -- particularly for local musicians, Canadian film and Canadian artists -- represent a useful collection for anyone interested in these aspects of Canadian culture and society.
