Children's Day Parade - Odyssey Float

Photograph taken during the 1961 Children's Day parade shows girls from the St. Andrews Playground Unit dressed as "Grecian Maidens" as part of their float, which depicted the story of the Odyssey and the Trojan War.

Attractions at North Battleford Fair / New Water Line Under Construction in Radisson SK

File contains photographs of some of the attractions that can be seen at the North Battleford Fair. Included is an image of "Twin Rivers Mandolin Aria", that won the award for champion female beef cow at the Fair, also included is an image of Cathy and Steve Brown, children of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Brown of North Battleford, enjoying the candy floss at the Fair. Also pictured is "Miss Lee Richard" owned by W.D. Attolini of Bellingham Washington, who was one of the harness race winners at the Fair. File also contains an image of workers digging a trench to accommodate a new water line in Radisson, SK.

Catley of Craven SK, and its buyer E. Kramer of North Battleford SK. Also pictured is reserve champion shorthorn Boblyn Max Williams, and grand champion shorthorn Walscott New Order.

Award winners at The Battlefords Fair

File contains photographs of the various winners at The Battlefords Fair. 4-H winners for the girls are Jean Moffat, Charlotte Johnson, and Edith Jess, for the boys, David Bohun, Dale Anderson, and Walter Jess. Animal winners include the Grand champion ewe owned by Mrs. James Whitehead, Junior Grand champion female Hereford owned by the Davis Brothers, and the grand champion male and female Aberdeen Angus owned by the Lazybrook Stock Farm of Colgate SK.

North Battleford Exhibition Winners

File contains photographs of a number of winners at the North Battleford Fair. Included are images of the two winning floats in the parade, one built by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), the other by Sunnyside Groceries. Included are images of the [farm?] boys and girls winners, these include Christine Rogers, Jean Moffat, Margaret Morgan, and Hazel Textor for the girls and for the boys the winners are, Glen Meena, David Bohun, and Dale Anderson. Also included is an image of Prof. Rupert Ramsay from the University of Saskatchewan officially opening the Fair.

New School Opens in Maymont SK

File contains photographs of the new school that recently opened in Maymont SK. Included is an image of the exterior of the school, an image of Rev. Frank Myers speaking at the school's opening ceremony, an image of grade 11 and 12 students at work in the chemistry/physics lab, and an image of teacher Miss V. Dimmick supervising a grade 2 reading class. There is also an image of the teachers and staff at the school, pictured is Miss V. Dimmick, Mr. N. Armstrong (principal), Miss A.G. Page, Miss M. McNabb, Mr. R. Thomas, and Mrs. Ida Gillatt.

Town of Speers celebrates curling victory

File contains photographs of the town of Speers, Sask, celebrating the Mike Lukowich curling rink who captured the Canadian Schoolboy Curling title. Included is an image of the team, team members include Mike Lukowich, Eddie Lukowich, Doug McLeod, and David Moore. File also includes an image of B.L. Korchinski, the high school principal at Speers and Percy Scott, the coach of the boys team. There are also images of the Speers town hall filled to capacity to celebrate the boys victory, and an image of Linda Salisbury entertaining the crowd with her rendition of the Highland Fling.

Saskatchewan Police Curling Association Bonspiel / Officers of Saskatchewan Ladies Curling Association

File contains an image of the Regina City Police Curling team, that captured Saskatchewan Police Curling Association championship in North Battleford. Team members include Const. Dick Clarke, Const. Don Slager, Const. C. Garringer, and Const. Cliff Just. File also includes an image of Mrs. Alice Park and Mrs. Dorothy Fehrenbach, the president and secretary-treasurer respectively of the Saskatchewan Ladies Curling Association. Included is an image of Mrs. Dave Tait, of Meota SK, throwing the first rock at the Saskatchewan Ladies Curling Association provincial finals in North Battleford SK.

Grand Champion Bulls / Tired Youngster

Pictured is the junior and grand champion Hereford bull, Parkvista Wetmore Mixer, that was bought by Harold Graham of Marsden SK for $1050.00. Included is an image of a two year old Hereford bull, CarlramsTop Notch Wetmore, that was bought by D.C. Thompson of Cut Knife, SK for $2000.00, the top price of the show. Also included is an image of grand champion Shorthorn bull, Shellrose Norseman, that was sold to Norman Baldwin of St. Walburg, SK, for $700.00. File also includes an image of three year old James Guthrie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Les Guthrie who fell asleep across two small wooden chairs.

New Collegiate (High School) Opens in Battleford

File contains photographs of the brand new collegiate (high school) that has just been completed in Battleford, SK. Included are images of J.S. Nutting, chairman of the North Battleford School Unit handing over the keys to the building to the principal Mrs. J. Sternig. Also included are images of the home economics room and the chemistry laboratory.

Music Festival Winners / Mrs. Rosanna Williams set to Celebrate 100th Birthday

Included is an image of Mrs. Rosanna Williams who is about to celebrate her 100th birthday.
