Dr. Lawrence J. Clein - Portrait

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Lawrence Joseph Clein (b. 1934) received his medical education at the London (England) Hospital. Dr. Clein was consultant neurosurgeon at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He was later appointed clinical professor of Family Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. He served as medical director of the Palliative Care Services for the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region in Regina,. Dr. Clein retired from his academic teaching role in 2016. Upon retirement from his clinical practice, Dr. Clein assumed an increased role in teaching within the Regina Campus (2021).

Dr. David Atkinson - Portrait

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. David William Atkinson was born in Sunderland, England in 1948, and emigrated to Canada when very young. Educated in Calgary, he attended Indiana University. He returned to the University of Calgary, where he completed his BA (1970) and subsequently earned an MA (1971), and a PhD (1975) in English. Dr. Atkinson was a faculty member at the University of Lethbridge from 1977-1991, where he took on increasingly senior administrative positions, including director of Applied Studies, chair of Religious Studies, associate dean of Arts and Science, and dean of Student Affairs. In 1991 Dr. Atkinson was appointed dean of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1997 he was appointed president of Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, and in 2005 president of Carleton University in Ottawa. He was appointed president of Kwantlen University College in Surrey, British Columbia. Dr. Atkinson resigned to take up the post of president of MacEwan University in Calgary on 1 July 2011. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and received the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and Diamond Jubilee Medal.

University of Saskatchewan Huskies Football Team - Dan Farthing - Portrait

Bio/Historical Note: Dan Farthing (b. 1969) played with the Huskie football team from 1987-1990. In his rookie season Farthing made his mark in football as a receiver with three touchdowns on 31 receptions for 759 yards. He was named the Canada West and CIS Rookie of the Year – just one of five Huskies to ever win a national football award. The next season Farthing scored three touchdowns on 33 receptions for 756 yards, leading the conference and country in receiving. As well as winning the Canada West MVP award, Farthing was named both an all-star and a CIAU All-Canadian. He added another all-star nod in 1990 after helping the Huskies to their first-ever Vanier Cup championship. He was also awarded the Huskie Athletics Rusty MacDonald Cup, given to the athlete who best combines sportsmanship, leadership and athletics. Farthing graduated from the College of Physical Education and was the first student in the college to win the President’s Medal for most distinguished graduate. He was drafted in the CFL in 1991 by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the first round, second overall - the second highest of any Huskie. Farthing had an 11-year career as a receiver with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, starting in 1991. He retired in 2001 and was inducted into the Roughriders Plaza of Honour in 2009.

K. Lorne Massey - Portrait

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. K. Lorne Massey was born in Nelson, British Columbia in 1943. He studied medicine at the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1967. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and was a member of the Department of Pathology at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon until the time of his death. Massey died in Germany in July 2005. The K. Lorne Massey Award in Dentistry was instituted in the 2005–2006 academic year.

International Potash Technology Conference fonds

This collection contains unpublished papers presented at the Second International Potash Technolgy Conference, Hamburg, Germany, 26-29 May 1991. The Conference attracted scientists from various countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Brazil, Jordan, Spain, and the [then] USSR.

Order of Canada - Ted Turner

Bio/Historical Note: Edward Kerr (Ted) Turner was born 6 April 1927 near Maymont, Saskatchewan. Turner graduated from the School of Agriculture in 1948. After graduation he continued farming on the family farm. In this community he was elected as a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool (SWP) delegate. He then served the SWP in several capacities. Elected as director in 1960, followed by first vice-president in 1966 and finally as president in 1969. An honourary Doctor of Laws degree was bestowed upon Turner in 1989 by Leo F. Kristjanson, University President. Turner was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1990. Turner was given the province's highest distinction, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, in 1995. He was made an honourary life member of the Canadian and Saskatchewan institutes of Agrologists. Turner was an inductee of the Saskatchewan Co-operative Order of Merit, as well as the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame. In 1995 he was invested as a Member of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Turner died 1 November 2018 in Regina at age 91.

Dr. Hilary M. Clayton - Portrait

Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Hilary M. Clayton earned her BVMS in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (1973) and her PhD in Veterinary Medicine (1978) from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). She was a lecturer at the University of Glasgow from 1975-1982. Dr. Clayton was a professor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan from 1982-1997, and at Michigan State University from 1997-2014. Dr. Clayton has been president of Sport Horse Science, LC, in East Lansing, Michigan, since April 2014. She is a speaker, an author and consultant in the area of equine sport science with emphasis on translating research findings into practical applications.

This fonds consists of records created, accumulated and used by Peter McGehee in his work as an artist, performer, and writer in San Francisco, California, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Toronto, Ontario, and as part of the Quinlan Sisters and the Fabulous Sirs. The fonds also includes photographs taken by McGehee's friends, such as his partner Doug Wilson and Fiji Robinson.

Textual records include: an outline of a script of Fiji Robinson's life story (according to Peter McGehee); a poster for "Beyond Happiness: The intimate memoirs of Billy Lee Belle"; photocopied advertisements and newspaper articles about "Boys Like Us" and the Quinlan Sisters; posters for the Quinlan Sisters; Fabulous Sirs concert itinerary; invitation to Maddy Quinlan's (Tim Lewis) 10 year in San Francisco party; and a business card for the Quinlan Sisters with McGehee listed as writer/director, Doug Wilson as manager, and Fiji Champagne, Peaches O'Cod, and Marie Quinlan as performers.

Photographs include colour and black and white prints, black and white contact sheets, print collages, and colour and black and white negatives. Images include professional photographs of Peter McGehee, The Quinlan Sisters, The Fabulous Sirs, and Doug Wilson and candid shots of Peter McGehee, Doug Wilson, Wilson's family, Fiji Robinson, Wendy Coad, Rob MacDonald, Cheryl O'Brien, Janice Kell, Michael Achtman, Brian Gladwell, Lynn McLeod, Charlie Drinkwater, Ruth Welsh, John Goodman, Julie McGehee, Katie O'Grady, and David Rimmer. Some photographs are identified as taken in San Francisco, Toronto, New York City, Rome, Italy, Granada, and Saskatoon, Climax and Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. Most negatives are not identified. Some photos contain explicit content.
