Corporation and Private Reports

This series consists of reports that Professor Edmunds compiled at request of corporations, government departments, or private individuals. Most of the reports are concerned with mining possibilities and results, particularly oil and gas prospects on the Prairies. There is also a good deal of information concerning soil testing as well as data relating to mining procedures.

Maps and Graphs

This series consists of various well maps, area graphs, and soil graphs. Most of the diagrams are insufficiently labelled with regard to well and company name and, therefore, all the graphs and diagrams are filed in one folder.

Reports Compiled by Others

The reports in this series were found among the Edmunds papers although they were prepared by other individuals and companies.

Photographs

This series consists of photographs, primarily of the Canadian landscape.

Subject Files

This series contains correspondence covering areas of interest to Dr. Morton such as the Canadian North-West Historical Society, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board, the Hudson's Bay Company, International Geographical Union, other universities, the Presbyterian Church, the Provincial Archives, the Provincial Trust for Holding Sites of Historic Interest, the Public Archives of Canada, the Royal Society of Canada, the Saskatchewan Historical Society and Association, the U of S, students and Western Canadian History.

Manuscripts

This series contains Professor Morton's handwritten and typewritten manuscripts of books, reviews and articles which he prepared for publication. Most of the manuscripts include notes and corrections which Dr. Morton entered on the manuscript copies and there are also some memoranda relating to the writing and publication of particular articles. The subject matter deals primarily with the history of Western Canada.

Lecture Notes

This series contains Morton's handwritten notes for his history lectures, tutorials and lectures delivered to non-classroom audiences. The series also contains quotes and extracts from the writings of Champlain, Radisson and Colbert. The primary focus of the material is Canadian History and the Reformation but there is also material dealing with India's educational system, "Pitt and the Seven Years War" and English constitutional history.

Research Notes

A major portion of the notes are extracts from various journals, committee or council minutes and archival records. The primary focus of the material is the history of the Canadian West. Some of the subjects are Louis Riel, Lieutenant Governor Simcoe, the Hudson's Bay Company and Alexander Mackenzie.

Manuscripts by Others

This series is comprised of miscellaneous manuscripts, by various authors, concerned primarily with the history of the Canadian West. Most of the articles relate particular incidents and anecdotes of the exploration and development of the prairies and the north. There is also an article regarding the sources and material available for the study of Louis XIV in France.

This series is comprised of newspaper clippings from a wide variety of Canadian, English and American fonds.

This series is comprised of manuscripts of "Sketch of the Settlement and Agricultural Development of the Canadian North-West" and "The Aborigines of Canada", filmstrips of the early history of the U of S, maps included in "History of Western Canada" and dates and titles of newspaper articles from Saskatoon and Regina pertaining to W.C. Murray, University buildings, events, activities, faculty, staff, students, members of the Board of Governors and Senate, etc.

Personal

This series is comprised of correspondence with family, friends and colleagues and relates to personal, professional and academic interests and activities, including job and grant applications, research proposals and projects. In the case of Linvill, there are files pertaining to movies, the University Film Society, and chess, GO and other board games. Avra's personal material also includes a novel manuscript entitled "New Granada".

Academic and Instructional

This series is composed of notes for lectures taken and presented, thesis research, including notes, bibliographies, drafts, etc., for Avra Watson (on Melanesia and New Guinea), cassettes and 78 rpm records, examinations (including comprehensives), grades, academic assessments, reviews, papers and presentations, conferences of various societies and associations, class assignments and theses, and information pertaining to the departments of anthropology and sociology at the University of Saskatchewan.

Research

This series consists of correspondence, research project proposals and grant applications, bibliographies and notes, published and published resources, maps, Northern newspapers, news clippings, questionnaires, minutes of meetings, financial records, drafts and reports, photographs and slides, and audio cassettes, including recordings of interviews, relating to research in Indian and Metis communities
