Church Union collection

The collection consists of primarily textual materials relating to the Church Union movement and the organizations involved, including the Joint Committee on Church Union. There appears to be a mix of original documents and various published and copied items.

Contents include: Basis of Union documents from the Presbyterian Church (1905-1908) and Methodist Church (1909); records of proceedings, minutes, and publications by and relating to the Joint Committee on Church Union and its Subcommittees; documents relating to proposed legislation (1922-1924), the Act Incorporating the United Church of Canada, House of Commons debates on the topic, and associated Saskatchewan legislation (1924); publications and articles relating to the anti-union movement and the legal issues resulting from the division of the Presbyterian Church; copies of information regarding the voting returns on Union from across Canada (1925-1926); maps showing communities with local union churches; and a poster published by the Union Committee of the Presbyterian Church (1924).

Prairie Church History collection

The collection consists primarily of documents relating to the histories of various local churches in Saskatchewan. Contents include written historical narratives (sketches) and notes, newspaper articles, pamphlets, and publications. Among these are volumes 1 and 2 of the local history book "Early History of Saskatchewan Churches (Grass Roots)", compiled and edited by Meredith B. Banting, ca.1975.

R.L. ("Dick") Sweet Breweriana Collection

This fonds contains materials primarily related to Richard Sweet’s interest and research into the history of brewing. There are extensive materials relating to Canadian and western US breweries; beer companies; and beer-related materials, including magazines, newsletters, other published reference material, and collectibles (predominantly, posters, labels and mats). It includes Richard Sweet’s extensive notes, and his research materials leading to his publications, The Directory of Canadian Breweries (first and second editions); Malted Manitoba; and Brewed Right on the Prairies: 122 Years of Brewing in Saskatchewan.

H.D. "Howdy" McPhail Photograph Collection

This collection includes Howdy McPhail’s aerial photographs, predominantly of individual farms and views of towns and cities. Some images are of specific landmarks, scenic views, or fauna. All images are identified and a majority are dated. A second accrual contains examples of printed calendars and postcards that were sold by McPhail, as well as some correspondence and other business documentation. Images used in an exhibition curated by Helen Marzolf were added in 2018. Further accruals of correspondence, order forms, negatives and prints were interfiled in Series B.

Lloydminster and District Oral Histories Collection

This collection consists of oral history interviews with people of note in the Lloydminster and district area conducted or collected by the Local History Committee of the Lloydminster and District Centennial Commemorative Association, Inc. Some of the early interviews, many conducted by Marilyn Thorpe, pre-date the creation of the Association. Subjects include family histories, weddings, child rearing, community activities and events. The collection also contains photographs of a few of the people interviewed.
