First building built in Yorkton

First building in Yorkton, the J.W. Thornton Building. The business men at the old town-site realized that the village had little future with a railway being built three miles to the south. J.W. Thornton was the first to move. He built this building on Livingstone street and Market street in late 1888 or early '89.

Part of the Automobile Club

Pat of the Automobile club, with cars lined up on the north side of Broadway, about 1909. The names of the business places are quite notable including an architect sign.

Horse and Cart

Jenny Young and Margaret Foster, Mrs. R. G. Walden and Mrs. R. G. Hutchings respectively, school teachers, are seen on a cart pulled by a horse on their way to their schools.
