This fonds consists of correspondence, letters to the Editor, newspapers, newsprint, photographs, and negative pertaining to the City of North Battleford. It mostly consists of photos with captions as they appeared in the News-Optimist. Fonds is composed of the following series: Newsprint; Photographs; Textual Records; Multimedia; and Negatives.
Minutes, financial and membership records, write-ups and articles about the Royal Canadian Legion's Ladies Auxiliary, which was formed in 1919 and disbanded in 2002, when its members joined the Royal Canadian legion as full members.
This is a virtual collection since the 6 physical 3-ring binders were returned to Janice McBain at Hayes Haven. In total, 357 photos were scanned in .tiff format and 143 documents which were scanned as pdf files with Optical Character Recognition. The documents were scanned at high resolution according to our archival standard (~3000 pixels on the long side). The binders whose contents were digitized were accessioned as individual items, The digital files reside on the museum's computer. The binders include photos and text documents - including news articles - that span most of the Orange Home's period of operation. The binders contain materials from the 1930s right up to the years of the Orange Home's closure in 1997.
Fonds includes personal correspondence and papers, as well as background and reference material assembled by John Diefenbaker and his staff. There is also large collection of press clippings, supplemented by press clippings gathered by the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.
Collection contains textual records complied by Dr. James "Jim" Daschuk. Common themes include Dr. R.G. Ferguson, Dr. A.B. Simes, the Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League, and the National Research Council.
The collection contains James Chatterton Clark's black and white photographs and a photocopy of one of his photographs. The original dates range from 1908 to 1962. Historically important images in the fonds include a photograph of thirty-six Melfort pioneers and a photograph of Mr. Babington (Melfort Moon Owner), Mr. and Mrs. Clemens (Melfort Post Office and Rothwell S.D #318 )Mr. Mouncy (Livery Stables), and Mr. Clark (first school teacher at Rothwell S.D #318 ). Other images include: the Melfort Band, the Melfort Collegiate, and a Y.M.C.C. Carnival.
The fonds is from Jack Arthur Howell's personal collection. It contains nine black and white photographs with matching negatives. These images are of Arthur, Ethel, and George Howell, the Howell family farm, and farming activities. There are also two more black and white photographs. One of the photographs is of the Women's Missionary Society of the United Church and the other is of a Saskatchewan Agricultural Societies convention.
The fonds contains three black and white photographs, and eight black and white scanned copies of original photographs. The copied photographs were scanned at 300 dpi with 16 million colours. The photographs range in date from 1938 - 1949, and include images of the Lady Minto Hospital, views of Melfort's Main Street, parades in Melfort, Herb Anderson and students of North Star School, Irma Staff and her brothers, and the North Star School ball team.
The collection contains two scanned copies of black and white photographs owned by Ines Claggett, as well as five original black and white photographs. All photographs were originally taken between [ca. 1930] and [195-]. The photographs depict group portraits of the "Southside Circle" women's group of the Melfort United Church, young students and teachers and the Salvation Army Building, a curling team, and the former Melfort golf club house - which was originally run by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Harms.
The fonds contains 80 black and white photographs. Some of the images were collected by the Melfort Historical Committee from local individuals for their pioneer artifact displays. Other photographs were taken by either the Melfort Historical Committee or the Melfort Agricultural Society. All of the images were taken in Melfort, Saskatchewan and surrounding areas between 1906 and the 1950's. The photographs document a wide variety of subjects including: Melfort Agricultural Society events like farm camps, parades, exhibitions, and competitions. Other subjects include Melfort schools, businesses, hockey teams, and locations as well as farming activities and weddings.
