History
Saskatchewan has a thriving and historically dynamic fiddle history. Rich in styles, teachings, sound and culture, the fiddle history has always highlighted not only traditional opportunities to hear the music (records/radio/recordings, concerts, gatherings, kitchen parties, pow-wows and sacred ceremonies) but also in non-traditional, or more formalized settings - fiddle contests. Fiddle contests in Saskatchewan have a vibrant history, and have featured not only prolific judges and panels, but have been the birthplace of some of Canada's most celebrated players.
