Bio/Historical Note: Dr. Alister Vallance Jones was born in 1924 in Christchurch, New Zealand. He attended the University of Canterbury (NZ) and earned his PhD in physics at Cambridge. Dr. Jones was a professor of Physics from 1953-1968 at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in upper atmospheric physics. Dr. Jones died in 2015 in Ottawa at age 91.
